“12-Year-Old Slut Memes,” Excuse Me?

Most of the pics are just of girls having fun like this! | BigStockPhoto.com

There are a lot of gross things on the internet, but this is pretty gross. Two nineteen-year-old guys created a Facebook page called “12-Year-Old Slut Memes”. The page has 213,000 likes and features images of very young girls. The girls in the pics are behaving silly, some of them are in bathing suits, sometimes they’re even posing in a way that supposed to be “sexy.” What seems like innocent fun and none of these dudes’ business has turned into a rampant community of slut shaming girls who don’t look a day older than 14.

The page’s mission statement says, “If you post slutty f—ing sh!t on Facebook expect your photo to end up on here, then tagged in, then ripped to shreds by 120 thousand people. Chaos will continue. Go die.”

The photos are tagged with phrases like, “whore,” “bitch,” “slut” or things like, “Caution STDs and AIDS.” WTF? There are two older guys, searching for photographs of girls mostly younger than 14, for the sole purpose of bashing them about having sexuality? Seems like something Facebook would immediately shut down. Nope. Even after a petition was created that clearly outlined how the page violated Facebook’s anti-hate speech guidelines, the cesspool of jerky behavior is still up and running.

Instead of taking the page down, the guys It’s heartbreaking that you can’t take a picture without people bashing you. | BigStockPhoto.com[/caption]

Look, I am not encouraging anyone to post pictures of themselves in their underwear on the internet. There is no such thing as privacy on the internet and even your best friends sometimes cannot keep a secret! (Be cautious, ladies!) However, the same backwards logic that says because these girls posted these pictures they somehow deserve to be shamed, bullied, and accused of having HIV, (which is really offensive because it implies that people who have HIV/AIDS deserve it? WTF?) is the same backwards logic that says girls deserve to be sexually assaulted when they wear short skirts, or flirt or maybe have a high number of sexual partners.

Hello, of course girls are going to be sexual as young as 12 (and maybe not make the best decisions), they’re going through puberty. Hormones are racing, boys and girls are starting to look a whole lot better, you want to fit in, and you want to feel good about yourself. Posting revealing pictures may not be the best way to fulfill these needs, but how can anyone expect teens who are just figuring out how to deal with their sexuality and emotions to always, 100% of the time, make the correct choices. Young people are supposed to do stuff like this! (Plus, many of you may never give two chips about their being pics of you online. We all have different priorities.)

Being silly online is more a rite of passage than an epidemic. It is normal, and not something to shame girls for doing. Yeah, it’s something worth discussing. It’s something worth having a conversation about with an adult you trust or a friend who can give you honest advice. It is not nearly as disturbing or reprehensible as two older men spreading hateful ideas about women and real girls they haven’t met.

Teenage girls have sexual desires. They have experienced them since the start of the human race. It is not something that warrants punishment. It is only something that requires information about one’s body and how to keep it healthy. Enough with the slut shaming already! Sign the petition here.

    “These guys are legends?” Please.

This facebook page is hateful and misogynistic. Why are they targeting young girls? What about boys who have sex at a young age and smoke? Why is it that when a woman, young or otherwise, expresses herself sexually she is considered a slut?

I’m not saying that these girls are simply expressing themselves, I understand the complexities of being a preteen and I understand some of them are just trying to fit in.

But they are hurting no one but themselves. What is the point of bashing 12 year olds on the internet? Why are two men so concerned with girls being “sluts”? All it does is spread hatred, and these men in turn become less then what they themselves hate about these girls. They are pathetic, weak, and probably have a grudge against young girls because they were ignored in middleschool.

These girls aren’t the only ones that need to grow up.

These guys are legends. They’re clearly not offending the young girls, just stating a point that there are girls who are young and do things beyond their age. The generations just keep getting curious. FYEAH JAMES AND DOM !!

  3. avatarSociety says:

I don’t see what’s wrong with their page. They post pictures of girls who admittingly have sex drink and do drugs at ages as young as 11, congratulations, you’re better than that. That’s why you’re not on the page right? Exactly. They shouldn’t be shut down because they have the balls to shed light on an issue like this. If seeing a bunch of sluts get slandered bothers you, raise your kids right and get over it. Maybe girls should quit being a bunch of dirty whores, and this page would have never existed. Case closed, get over it. It’s the internet.

Tell girls not to act like sluts.

No slutty acting girls, no sluts to shame, page goes away

    Problem solved

  5. avatarwood says:

These girls are not confused or being taken advantage of. They are proudly admitting to screwing random guys including some twice their age smoking weed drinking and ditching classes all to “fit in”? No these girls are a terrible representation of what the next generation is and they deserve to be told that in the harshest way possible. Hopefully some of the slut shaming will get through to them if not let’s hope they do the world a favor and get pregnant and die during child birth. Remember if you put something on the internet it’s no longer private!! People can do as they please with information you freely posted

I can see why these guys made this page…. i laughed at some of the things. but it’s kinda lame, like “kill yourself” is pretty lame.

    I like this article
but I dunno if it should be shut down
i wish the fb page wouldnt be so ignorant

Collecting suggestive photos of children for your ‘moral crusade’? Good luck trying to justify that when you’re typing with one hand, guys.

  8. avatarLindi says:

    You all are with this!?!?!!?!
I’m 12!!! YOU ARE SERIOUSLY DEFENDING THEM??? LIKE WE WOULD DO IT!!
What the hell?!?! You guys get me pissed off >_>
Some girls do, not All. Jesus.
Just because I’m 12 does that make me a slut? No. But the way you guys are defending these stupid Australian men (No hate on Aussies) I guess I might as well be then. Hmm?
Go ahead, defend them, but that makes you just as stupid as these d*cks here. GURL.com is saying that they’re wrong. This is the site I get advice from, where YOU get advice from. You think they’re (gURL.com) wrong? No honey, that ain’t gonna cut it. It’s YOU thats wrong.

    • avatarIrrational Guy says:

Miss, you made me laugh so much even though I am as old as you. I don’t think they’re wrong. Actually, they’re brave enough to tell the world, “oh look they’re doing things wrong!” And you don’t get it. Nobody said that being 12 makes you a slut, but doing things like a slut at the age of 12 does make you a slut.

      • avatarVildane says:

i totally uneadstrnd the ridiculous double standard about men sleeping around and being applauded and women doing the same and getting called out and hated for it, but i still do not find it ok for any woman to be a slut.sluts dress a certain way and act a certain way to get attention from men and eventually that’s all they are worth in their mind. There is nothing wrong with wearing skimpy clothes and having casual sex for fun, but i dont really consider that a slut. im pretty sure thats what you were getting at with the whole, We are bad girls, bitches, and sluts thingbut im just curious

  9. avatarTal says:

My friend was put on there :L

  10. avatarbee says:

God. All the victim-blaming in the comments.

  11. avatarJaryn says:

I feel like you’re romanticizing the so-called “12-year-old sluts.” The page isn’t preying on random preteens who are just slightly confused; most of the memes are actual screenshots of girls talking about having sex with random guys, drinking and partying, or even proudly calling themselves sluts. A lot of the stuff they’re doing is illegal, not to mention stupid, which I think is a bigger problem than the Facebook page calling them out for their actions.

  12. avatarLittleBabydoll says:

What 12 year old girls do these days is gross. I’ve read some shocking things other than this. I didn’t do what they’re at their age! And I was only 12, 6 years ago. I think the fact that ‘sex’ is thrown in your face constantly, ie: magazines and tv; is to blame too. I didn’t have my own laptop either, we only had a desktop at the time which was in the dining room. I was only allowed online to play neopets for 1 hour a day after homework. Maybe bad parenting plays a part too? Parents not knowing what their kids are up to The internet is a scary place at times. A lot of pervs out there.

Basically, I personally feel what those girls are doing in the pics aren’t right, especially at their age. And those guys who set up the page are on the wrong too. But surely those girls expected comments like that?
I also disagree with part of the article about 12 yr olds exploring their ‘sexuality’. They’re too young to even know what that is. I didn’t know what it was at 12. At 12 you’re still immature, and a child.

    I worry for the future.
Wait… (why are they on facebook underage? /: )

Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes/or if nothing makes sense. I’m typing on my phone

  13. avatarAnonymous says:

Wouldn’t this be considered child pornography? I thought that was illegal? & since these guys are over 18 can’t they get into serious legal trouble & be considered sex offenders?

  14. avatarlissette says:

so some of the girls, actually all of the girls on this page are stupid. if they want to be ‘sluts”, let them! they know how they are going to be looked at. they know what they are doing. Another thing, they are most likely all talk. they probably dont do all of the stuff they say they did. either way, the website shouldnt be shut down, they are simply expressing what they feel and let the supposed sluts be who they think they want to be.

  15. avatarconnie moore says:

Consider the source…..two jerks trying to build thier ego….me I just see them as what they are immature jerks ……..

  16. avatarSammi says:

I don’t really see a problem with this page. Yeah, I disagree with the times they say “go kill yourselves,” but I see no problem with shaming them. What they are doing is considered shameful at that age. When I was twelve the worst thing you could catch my friends and I doing was cursing once or twice a week. Not to mention if they think they are mature enough to do the things that “12 year old slut memes” puts up on their page then they should be smart enough to know that people who disagree with what they’ve put on the internet will not be silent. These girls have nobody to blame but themselves.

  17. avatarFlip says:

Most of the pictures aren’t like girls having fun, the girls are exploiting themselves and their generation. While slut-shaming is wrong, I can see why these dudes came up with this page if you think about it from an ignorant perspective.
