Is The DNC Really The “Vagina Monologues”!

Breaking news, a guy whose job it is to report the news objectively made a really biased, sexist comment. Oh, right, this isn’t really shocking at all because it happens all the time on the news and in politics–exactly where it shouldn’t be happening.

Lots of people spoke at the DNC. Men, women, people of all different races, ethnicities, and cultures discussed a range of issues important to them and this country. Not just women. Not even close to just women. And even if it were ALL women, so what? I DARE you to watch Michelle Obama’s speech and NOT cry. I DARE YOU!

CNN anchor, Erick Erickson Tweeted this while watching the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte:

This guy is basically pissed that women were allowed to speak and given the same credibility and respect as men. I could go off on this guy, but I’d rather just make fun of his stupid remarks. That’s what they are–stupid, thoughtless, and not even worthy of a real discussion, only unadultered ridicule. We all know, every time a woman speaks, it’s just the Vagina Monologues, am I right, ladies?

Mom: “I have something really important to tell you–”
Me: “Stop Vagina Monologuing at me, God!” *eyeroll*

Math Teacher: “The quadratic formula is simple . . .”
Me: “OMG! How am I supposed to learn math when this woman is Vagina Monologuing numbers at me!”

Gynecologist: “There’s a possibility this lump could be ovarian cancer.”
Me: “Another Vagina Monologuer McGee. It’s always ‘VAGINAS! VAGINAS!’ with you!”
Gynecologist: “I’m a vagina . . . doctor . . .”
Me: “VAGINAS! VAGINAS! LALALALALA.”

Michelle Obama: “They simply believed in that fundamental American promise that, even if you don’t start out with much, if you work hard and do what you’re supposed to do, then you should be able to build a decent life for yourself and an even better life for your kids and grandkids.”
Me: “Why is this woman discussing her vulva on national television?!”

In his defense, maybe Erick Erickson has a disease where every word he hears sounds like “vagina”. If that’s the case I really, really hope for his sake they never find a cure.

Yet another stupid, sexist pig who had the bright idea to actually give form to his…er… can we even really call those ‘thoughts’? Typical, but I so know it isn’t true. Guys like this are stuck in the days of long past where women are scaaaarrryy, because… well, probably because we can give birth, and back then guys didn’t understand how that worked, and it scared them. Some cultures, like the Native Americans and the Celts, respected it and revered women for it, but sadly, it got the the point where the cultures who were afraid of women took over. Eventually, I don’t think people really understood WHY they treated women like second-class citizens, because it had just been around for so long, it was just the way things were. Obviously, things are SO much better now than they were even 30 or 40 years ago, but guys like this show that we still have a ways to go.
