There’s a new Miley Cyrus song out right now, and it’s a lot different than the tunes we’re used to hearing her sing–maybe her sonic change is inspired by her new short ‘do! Miley sings background on a new Borgore track called “Decisions,” and it’s a far cry from “Party in the U.S.A.”–but it’s still pretty awesome.
The hip-hop and dubstep influenced track features Borgore rapping while the future Mrs. Liam Hemsworth sings along with him in the hook. You may have to turn your volume up to make out her voice, but once you do, you’ll hear her distinct, uniquely Miley Cyrus lilt as she croons, “I wanna eat the whole cake! / I’m not sharing it!” (We can’t help but wonder if Miley had a certain shaped cake in mind when she sang this.)
It’s pretty cool that Borgore and Miley Cyrus kept their collaboration under wraps for as long as they did–and they did it for a reason. Borgore said that he wanted to get genuine reactions to the song, not biased ones based on listeners’ opinions of Miley Cyrus as a person. “Welcome to Borgore and Miley’s social experiment,” Borgore laughed. “What we were trying to do is make a tune together that we’re super happy about and just see people’s real opinion about this.” He explained, “If someone used to like the tune before he knew she was on it, and now he doesn’t like it just because she’s on it, he’s lying to himself. I think being nonconformist is being the biggest conformist.” So true! Take a listen to the track here:
The Israeli dubstep DJ said he really wasn’t familiar with Miley’s megacelebrity before he worked with her. “You have to understand that I grew up in Israel, and the whole Hannah Montana thing, I’ve never seen it,” he says. “I’ve heard about this, but the Miley Cyrus persona you might have in America I don’t have. All I see is a super hot girl that has an amazing voice and is super fun to work with. I thought she was made up more to be a star, but she was pretty phenomenal behind the booth.”
So can we expect more Borgore and Miley Cyrus collabos in the future? If Borgore has his way, you bet. “I wouldn’t say no to working with Miley, ’cause I think she’s a great singer,” he said. “I already proved she’s great for what I do, and if she fits in one of my next tunes and she will want to be part of it, I’ll be happy.” So will we!
