A great way to prepare for your new school year is to get to know your teachers and coaches before school starts. Most schools and districts have directories where you can find your teachers’ email addresses. Shoot them a message saying how excited you are to be in their classes, and ask if they have any specific supplies you’d need for their class (some teachers like specific types of notebooks, some math classes require special calculators, certain clubs and sports require different equipment, etc.). This may save you an exxtra trip to the store later!
If you’re too shy to contact your teachers directly, and if you’re pals with any upperclassmen, ask them for insight on your teachers. They may be able to offer some great insider info–like how often you have to study, what their homework loads are like, or how hard their exams are.
One thing not to do: Don’t add your teachers on Facebook or Twitter if you find them there! You can both get in trouble–and do you really want your algebra teacher seeing all your tagged photos?
