5 Girl Power Anthems Katniss Is Probably Rocking Out To

Girl Power (or Feminism or the Spice Girls—whatever you want to call it) is a lot more powerful than you think. It wasn’t too long ago that the idea a woman who could make her own choices was so frowned upon and unacceptable that girls had to band together and fight. Our foremothers fought to work, vote, and most importantly shake their moneymakers. (OK, maybe not most importantly.)

Nevertheless, where would we be without the amazing women artists that fill the walls of our bedrooms with booming beats and lyrical wisdom? Girl Power doesn’t just come from politics. We all need anthems to get us going. Here are our five favorite Girl Power songs.

Spice Girls – Wanna Be

“Yo, I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want!”

Beyonce – Run the World

“Who run the world? Girls!”

Katy Perry – Firework

“Baby you’re a firework, come on let your colors burst!”

Bikini Kill – Rebel Girl

“In her hips, there’s revolution”

Kelis – Bossy

“You don’t even have to like me, but you will respect me.”
