Sound familiar? Yup. I know it does. Because even if you haven’t ever said or felt something like this about your body at least once in your life (I think sadly most of us have, though), we’ve listened to our friends, sisters, mothers, and even girls on TV and in movies say the same darn thing. The thing is, this mindset is like a broken record . . . not just because we hear it on repeat day after day, but also because, um, it’s broken logic.
Sure, there may be things you want to change about your body. And sure, you may want to get healthier (good for you if you’re doing it!)–but there are tons of amazing and wonderful things your body can do at the height and weight it is right now, without changing anything. Including, but not limited to, winning Olympic gold!
Don’t believe me? Well, thanks to the brilliant people over at the BBC, I’ve got proof. On their Olympic site, they’ve got a feature that asks you to put in your height and weight, and then it tells you which phenomenal Olympic athlete you match up with in size. Click here to try it out for yourself. (Just make sure to choose the correct type of measurement–like feet or pounds–before entering the numbers!)
I plugged my info in, and it turns out, I’m a perfect match for an Italian gymnast! A friend of mine matches with a super rad swimmer, and another said she matched with a bad-ass weight lifter! Sure, this fun little game has given each of us a new favorite athlete to cheer for in the London Olympics–but more than that, it’s given each of us a new appreciation for our bodies and what they’re really capable of.
The next time you look in the mirror and start to think something negative about your body, just remember that this gorgeous body you’ve got is actually as good as Olympic gold. And that’s NOTHING to complain about.
Did you find the Olympic match for your body? Who was it? Tell us about it in the comments!

I matched a table tennis player. Get in line, boys, nothing’s sexier than the body of a ping pong player.
I am tried the site but did not match to the size of any athlete.I am too fat, weigh too much(waist;65 inches,weight;83 kg),and too short.I hate my body!! I got dumped by my boy friend last year year because of this sudden fatening.I havent being able to get a sweethart eversince.I am not selected to participate in any sport.
Badest is i looove EATING junk food and hate swiming, runing ect.
I went on the site and turns out that I’m a perfect match with a British rhythmic gymnast. The craziest thing about it is that i myself am a competitive rhythmic gymnast. Iwas having doubts about my abilities because my body type wasn’t that of all the other girls in my club. I was very curvy and weighed more than any girl my age. This site gave me the confidence to understand that no matter what your body type, you are all capable of great things! Thanks Gurl!
