How Sexy Movies Could Change Your Life

Could sexy movies change your life? Maybe. Think back: Can you remember the first time you saw a sex scene in a movie? If you were a real youngin’ at the time, exposure to sexy movies like that may have affected youmore than you thought.

A new study actually says that the more sexy movies you see between the ages of 10 to 16, the more likely you are to engage in casual sex later on–and that sexy movies may also make you more likely to have a higher number of sexual partners than teens who didn’t see the same sexy movies. There was also a correlation between watching sexy movies and having sex earlier than teens who didn’t watch the same “action-packed” flicks.

We’re not sure how much of that we’re buying, though. We see a lot of things in movies that we don’t necessarily go out and do ourselves, regardless of how cool it might look (think of car chases in Die Hard, or joining a Jamaican bob sled team, for instance). If you’re trying to decide whether or not to have sex with a guy, watching a sexy movie may get you a little more in the mood, but it probably won’t be the main motivating factor in getting you to go to bed with somebody.

That said, sexy movies may make casual sex look a bit more commonplace than it is–and it certainly makes sex look a lot more glamorous than it actually is. Few people have the privilege of having sex the same way it happens in sexy movies–most of us don’t have perfect lighting, coordination, or Brad Pitt. Instead, we’ve got awkwardness, the occasional head bump, fluorescent lamps, and usually a lot of complicated feelings attached to our partners. Another element of sexy movies that isn’t so accurate–we hope, anyway? How many times have you watched a sexy movie where they stopped mid-hookup to find a condom, or talked beforehand about birth control and just what they’re comfortable doing? Why doesn’t anyone in sexy movies ever run to the pharmacy in the morning for Plan B or to the clinic to get tested after having unprotected sex?

It’s safe to say that even if sexy movies play a role in teens having sex earlier, the sex itself is usually a rude awakening from the heavily directed scenes onscreen. If watching a sexy movie makes you want to have sex, chances are you wanted to have sex anyway. Just make your life safer than a sexy movie and make sure you use protection!

Do you think sexy movies play a role in when people start to have sex? Do sexy movies make you want to have sex? Did you start having sex earlier than your pals because you watched more sexy movies than they did? Tell us in the comments!

I am not saying watching them make you have sex, but I know when I see a sex scene or a scene that is sexy it can turn me on depending on who is around and what the situation is. Nothing is sexier than seeing attractive people have sex and that can make you have feelings down there that shout out, I need some too.
