In each of our lifetimes, however long or short, terrible things like this happen. We try to understand them, but we really cannot. There’s no way to make sense of how someone can willfully cause so much pain.
When tragedy strikes all we can do is make sense of our own lives. We can look toward the people who matter most, the things we do each day that make us happy, and hope that we’ll have more time to enjoy them.
It’s totally normal to feel really sad about this, even if you don’t know anyone who was involved and even if you live a million miles away. Imagining someone else’s pain is empathy. It means that you care about your fellow man or woman and there’s nothing wrong with that. I am sure your parents have already filled your head with notions like mine have, “The world is a scary place,” “Don’t talk to strangers,” and “Be safe, not sorry.”
The world IS scary and dangerous, but it’s also (and mostly) wonderful and exciting. It’s important to not let the heinous acts of a few misguided people get us down or make us too afraid to live life to the fullest. Will the Gurl staff be in theaters this weekend to see The Dark Knight Rises? You, betcha! Will we be slightly apprehensive about it? Of course.
The important thing to remember is that you make the world a better place by not behaving like this. You make the world a better place by being a good friend, daughter, sister or aunt. You make the world a better place by enjoying yourself and spreading that joy–to not happily live your life is an injustice. So honor the victims of this tragedy, be empathetic, then go outside and have fun. Life is precious.
Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.

How To Get Noticed?
This guy is just horrible. Why would anyone ever want 2 kill innocent people? It makes me sad just thinking about the shooting. THIS TERRIBLE EXCUSE 4 A HUMAN BEING SHOULD PAY 4 WAT HE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is so sad and so horrible… the guy could have done so much with his life, and he goes and kills 12 people and injures almost five times as many people… I was at church camp the day it happened, and one of my counselors told me, our whole cabin prayed for the people who died, where injured, the people who got out uninjured and still have the memory of what happened, and the families of the people who were killed or injured. I hope you all do the same.
I feel so sorry for the victims an there family all my love and prayers go out to them. I just don’t get how you can take someone’s life and no be sorry. This just proves that this worlds morals and standards are lost.6
honestly think its extremely sad,and im praying for everyone of them….but the TVs need to take a break. Imagine the survivors, sitting in their hospital rooms or at home and switching on the TV just to hear about their horribly close encounter with death? Yes, its sad and absolutely terrible…but their dragging out their heartbreak on almost every channel.
It’s so sad that stiff like this happens when families are out having fun together! My best friend and I went to see this yesterday, and I’m going to see it again with my family tonight! I’m fortunate enough to watch the film in peace, but those poor people are scarred physically and emotionally for life!
this is sooo sad
theres been quite a few shootings in Colorado and one i think my either a middle school or high school that i live near by and then with columbine and this its really scary and also if my boyfriend would have went with his friend to see this movie with him there he could have gotten hurt or worse
im praying for these guys these families
I left Century 16 half an hour before the gun man came out, thank god.
That’s sick and cruel. The world is getting worst everyday. There could’ve, there ARE, more like this, but they don’t put it out there. *sigh* I wish I could change the world
It really upsets me. It sickens me really. This man had the opportunity to do something with his life (he was getting a PhD) and he decides to do this. He even called himself ‘The Joker’. I mean- really- is your life really that horrible that you need to resort to this?!
My condolences go out to the families of those killed and those who are injured.
Yeah I live in Col Springs and one of my friends was there. In that theater. He saw the guy and ran and luckily made it out uninjured but he saw people get shot right in front of him. My other friend almost went with him too…
It’s actually 59 injured.
this is truely is sad and i will pray for all hanging on!
