Okay girls . . . get ready to get excited! No Doubt just released a brand-spankin-new song, “Settle Down”. If you’re as big of a Gwen and No Doubt fan as I am, it’s kind of a big deal. Even if you’re like 50 percent as big of a fan as I am, it’s kind of a big deal.

It’s been 11 years since their last release as a group, so I have big hopes for this album . . . even if the first single isn’t really doing it for me. Hear me out: I like “Settle Down,” but it just seems like an updated “Hey Baby” with a slightly different beat.

I think No Doubt is at their best when Gwen’s lyrics have substance–when she’s saying something other than “nothing’s gonna knock this girl down” over and over (which she does in “Settle Down”). But you know what? After all this time, hearing her voice just kind of feels like home, so she can say anything she wants and I’ll still be dancing with my headphones on.
