It’s been 11 years since their last release as a group, so I have big hopes for this album . . . even if the first single isn’t really doing it for me. Hear me out: I like “Settle Down,” but it just seems like an updated “Hey Baby” with a slightly different beat.
I think No Doubt is at their best when Gwen’s lyrics have substance–when she’s saying something other than “nothing’s gonna knock this girl down” over and over (which she does in “Settle Down”). But you know what? After all this time, hearing her voice just kind of feels like home, so she can say anything she wants and I’ll still be dancing with my headphones on.
Listen to a bit here!
What did you think of the new No Doubt song? Do you think “Settle Down” sounds a lot like “Hey Baby,” or am I just nuts? Tell me in the comments!
