Sigh. I sure hope she’s not. But if Miley is a cutter and the pictures reveal that there is that possibility, why cause more damage and post them? Why shame her by saying she is doing it for attention? (Are you kidding me?) It’s an invasion of privacy, none of our business, and could simply just be untrue.
It’s easy to accuse someone of being “emo” or to accuse a child star of being an “attention whore” when suspicious cuts appear because it’s good gossip. However, it is not socially responsible, helpful, or a true assessment of what’s going on.
Self-harming is essentially an addiction to a (negative) kind of coping. Cutting may help you deal with pressure, failures, and angst in the moment, but it doesn’t help you deal in the long term. Still, if people self-harm because they are already in pain, then fresh scars are an indicator–a big red flag–saying: this person is in deep pain. How can we justify publicizing someone else’s pain? I mean, did we forget how bad Demi Lovato struggled with her own self-harming?
Not to mention, there are plenty of young people who look up to Miley as a role model and as someone to emulate. If they’re also having a difficult time coping they may see this as a reasonable way to deal if she’s doing it too. A good friend of mine in high school began cutting after seeing Ellie on Degrassi: The Next Generation do it. Even though the show made it clear that it wasn’t the best way to cope, just seeing that it was even an option triggered her into doing it. I’m not blaming the show and certainly not Miley for encouraging cutting, I am just saying it’s a delicate subject and people can be influenced by the characters and stars they look up to.
Having the pictures out there is just not good for anybody.
What Miley needs isn’t photographs announcing her self-harm to the world, it’s support from her loved ones and maybe help from a professional. I can only hope that the rumors aren’t true, but if they are, could we just lay off?
Do you think it’s OK to post pictures of Miley’s possible cuts? Let us know in the comments!

thts so true but as much as i dont lik miley tht is still so cruel and even i wouldnt do tht to her just for pablicity thts very very cruel
This is so true! I mean, Im not necessarily the biggest miley fan but I agree people should just leave her alone! You can never know what its like in someone elses shoes.
I hate how the media is constantly getting in celebrities’ business. Every little thing about a celebrities life isn’t meant for a blogger to write an article about!
Also, nobody does it for attention, and if someone does, then you should stop to think how ignored and invisible they must feel if that is how they can get someone to notice them. Nobody does it unless they’re in real pain.
Stop accusing people of being “emo attention-seekers” and realize that they do have a problem.
On one hand, I don’t think that its right to make a consciously willed effort to demoralize a human being by way of public embarrassment. And essentiallyEmerald is right when she stressed that people who find Miley as a role model might take after her bad habits, but this is one of many things that girls looking up to her might negatively absorb.
Honestly, immoral or not, I really doubt that after having cameras in her face the majority of her life Miley even pays attention to what goes on the tabloids. Its not the paparazzi’s opinion that affects her anymore, its those close to her. I do not think that hiding the photos from the public eye will either help or hinder the situation.
As far as it being an invasion of privacy…
The fame alone is the biggest invasion of privacy ever imaginable, and she is now a legal adult. If she had given any attempt to cover or hide it and someone made an effort to show it when she had hidden it, I would scream foul play. She is, however despairingly, fully responsible for negative press and negative reaction.
If her family cannot see it and she is not getting the help she needs, I feel sympathy for her and how she wears her mutilation on her sleeve (pun unintended). However I have no hard feelings for paparazzi, they are doing their job and it is illogical to assume we can have every dirty journalist stop writing about celebrity depression, mutilation, divorce, weight gain, what have you.
those are def cut marks. i use to cut myself years ago and i know what they look like and they are def not from any cat because i have 2 cats and the cuts they give dont look like that.
