It’s pretty much common knowledge that One Direction hottie Harry Styles is a heartbreaker, but we didn’t know the guy was a homewrecker, too! The curly haired cutie is reported to have had an affair with a U.K. radio DJ–who was married at the time. Yikes! What happened?
Rumor has it that One Direction appeared on a radio show and hit it off with Lucy Horobin, who at the time had been married for about a year–and was 32 to Harry’s 17! WTF?
Harry Styles’ penchant for cougars has been pretty well-documented since he and One Direction first rose to fame on the U.K.’s X Factor series, especially since he dated the 32-year-old host, Caroline Flack. While it can be argued that it’s at least partly Harry’s doing (keep it in your pants, bud!), there’s a big double standard at play here. If the genders were reversed, wouldn’t this be super creepy?
Lucy Horobin is not only married, but she’s a fully grown adult woman who should know better. Though she is said to have been separated at the time of their fling, it’s still pretty gross. Just like the creepy older dudes that prey on younger girls, if an adult woman hits on and hooks up with a minor, it’s neither awesome nor hip. It’s usually manipulative and shady–whether or not the woman is hitched–and, depending on where everyone lives and where stuff goes down, possibly illegal.
One Direction fans lashed out at Lucy Horobin over Twitter, which we totally don’t endorse (because no one deserves to be harassed ever), but we gotta admit, we’re sort of happy that Directioners recognize that there’s something not right with the whole situation.

These weird mom-aged fans aren’t much different from the pervy guys who leer at you and honk from their cars–they just generally get less flak for it. In a lot of cases, when instances of statutory rape happen to guys, if the woman’s hot, they’re often ridiculed for reporting it. But it’s still abusive and potentially damaging, no matter how attractive the culprit happens to be or how mature the guy seems. If it were your brother, you’d be pretty grossed out, right?
Obviously, if everyone involved is at least 18 (and hopefully single), then hey, do you. But til then? Cougars, stay away from the kiddie pool!

yes, i do think it was wrong for the both of them to have this kind of relationship. harry should have learned from his flings with caroline flack and emily ostilly and stayed away from this conflict. i do think it’s mostly lucy’s fault for even letting this go on. I think harry is a very sweet, handsome, and very romantic kid with a love cougars. i’m very glad that lucy appologized to both harry and her husband and harry has appologized too. i am also glad that harry had stated that he is through with older women and that he is trying to keep his girlfriends within the one year to 8 years age gap. overall, i am just glad that this fling didn’t last long or it wouild have escalated even worse and one direction and lucy fans would have bashed them even more. they are both very nice individuals.
That’s just… odd. And totally wrong. Harry, you can flirt and hook up with older women if you want, but she was MARRIED. And she definitely should have known better. If your married, you have a commitment to be faithful to your spouse, which she wasn’t. And he was 17 at the time, which makes it even more wrong, not to mention TOTALLY creepy.

It’s not illegal if it happened in england! In England you only have to be 16 or something to date anyone older! So its technically not illegal, unless it happened in America. So everybody, STOP HATTING ON THESE PEOPLE!

ok I actually listened to 1D’s interview with this woman and there were some inappropriate things said like the interviewer made inappropriate sounds but that’s because one direction questioned the montage at the beginning of the interview when there where some “strange noises” and harry did say “can we talk off air” but boys will be boys they say things that they don’t even mean and harry is an adult by law because he’s 18 he can take care of himself and i would like to say that your piece here says “rumor has it” so it doesn’t mean it’s true and harry has a head on his shoulders he’d never try anything like that and if he did the boys would have stopped him

Who said it actually happene though? I mean it’s totally possible, but there’s no real proof to back it up. Harry, and all the one direction boys, are big enough to where dumb rumors are bound to pop up. If you ha the chance wouldn’t you think it was cool to have people believe you had an affair with someone that attractive? And if it DID happen, well that should be between Harry, the girl, and the husband. It’s honestly no one else’s business.
I agree, there’s no real proof even though it could’ve happened. And it SHOULD be only their business but since he’s famous, the media obviously got the information and probably twisted it.
I also saw this picture somewhere of 40-year-old women screaming at Robert Pattinson and everyone was like “Okay it’s just the usual” but if 40-year-old MEN were screaming at Kristen Stewart everyone would probably be freaking out and having security guards everywhere she went. Js.

But here’s the thing: Harry Styles isn’t a minor in England. He was seventeen at the time? So, that would make it legal for him to have consensual sex with another person as long as they weren’t under the age of thirteen.
Those are the laws in England (as I know them). Since that’s where both parties were from, it wasn’t illegal and technically there wasn’t a problem. Maybe some people think it’s creepy, but that does depend on the situation-the balance of power, consent, etc.
As for her marriage status, it’s likely that she was separated and the media twisted the story.
