Not only is this completely absurd, it’s cultural bigotry. What exactly is wrong with being Muslim? My BFF is Muslim and he is probably one of the smartest, most awesome people I’ve ever known in my whole life. What gives, Schlussel? We know Katy Perry is Christian, why don’t we go off on her about pushing her “Christian agenda”? Probably because Christianity is the religion Americans are most comfortable with. News flash: America is a melting pot, what ever happened to that?
Look, I know what you might be thinking, on 9/11 something really terrible happened in the U.S. and the people who did it happened to be terrorist of a certain religion. I cannot make this clear enough, those people were religious extremists–emphasis on extreme. Those people were a small group who do not represent the views of all Muslims and definitely not MOST Muslims!
It really devastates me that some Americans feel justified in what is blatant and obvious discrimination because a very tiny group of people did something really heinous. People of all faiths have committed seriously awful crimes, not because of their faith but because those people were misguided in a bad way. Why are we singling out this one group of people?
And the blanket-hate doesn’t stop with Zayn and the Muslim faith.
Just the other day an Iranian-American teenager wasn’t allowed to buy an iPad because an Apple employee heard her speaking Farsi (her native language). The employee thought that because the U.S. has a policy that says no one is allowed to export goods to Iran (meaning a U.S. business cannot sell goods to Iran) he couldn’t sell products to individuals who happened to be of Iranian decent. Clearly this guy got it wrong, but it goes to show how easy it is for people to fall into the trap of cultural bigotry. The girl left the store in tears.
Nothing sets me off more than obvious, unwarranted, senseless hate. There’s nothing dangerous about Islam and no one is trying to brainwash anyone. I’ve had a lot more Christians knock on my door to teach me about their religion than any Muslims. And you know what, if a lot more people embrace Islam because of Zayn’s intensely perfect eyes, that’s quite alright with me.

i am egyptian and i am muslim but i dont live in america but i just wanted to say that i appreciate what you are saying and that religion shouldnt be a reason to hate someone and i even have a best friend who’s christian and she’s amazing
I am a Christian, in the heart of the South I might add. And this woman has no respect for the dignity of a human being. All Muslims are NOT terrorist, and there is NOTHING wrong with being a Muslim. And Muslims live by a peaceful faith. Yes we learned about Islamic faith and the Hindu faith in my CATHOLIC school for about a semester. There is nothing wrong with Muslims, they are a peaceful people, and I wish our American society would realize that before judging and criticizing. As for the girl who got denied the right to an iPad. They need to give her one for free dammit. She shouldn’t even have to pay for one.

I’m a Muslim and reading this article made me really happy knowing many people don’t hate on us. Whatever the girl said, I think, its completely stupid, I mean we Muslims love stuff and we do not care about whatever religion or race they are and we never judge people like that, nobody does actually. By the way no religion teaches violence, every religion teaches us how to make peace and I don’t like One Direction =P
I’m a Christain, and I think that alot of people treat Muslims wrong. I honestly don’t care about a person’s religon. If you respect my beliefs and are nice to me, I’ll be nice to you. Simple as that.

TBH I had no idea Zayn was muslim. I don’t listen/watch them often, so maybe that’s the case. Either way, that woman is an extremely ignorant bigot. I wouldn’t even link to here “article” to give her more of the attention she wans.

I am not islam or a huge fan of zayn, but i totally hate hatred. i am a black catholic girl and to hear anyone discriminate against anyone it really makes me upset. There is no reason the blogger had to say those things about ‘brainwash’ and the apple employee should be fired and sued.
