Makeup is the easiest and most temporary way to test out a new look, because if you wind up hating it–just wash yer face!
You have so many options with makeup that it can kind of seem overwhelming. A good option? Grab a pal and hit up one of the counters at the mall and give some different looks a test run. The artist can show you not only what colors flatter you the most, but how to apply it to look best. It’s a great way to match your foundation and learn to blend it perfectly or learn how to finally get the perfect smoky eye.
Note: Sometimes the artist will pressure you in making a purchase you’re unsure about. This is where your BFF comes in! Let the artist know you want to see how it looks in natural light first and request samples of the items she used on you. When you go outside, check yourself out in a mirror. Does everything still match up nicely? Does your BFF agree that it looks good and not too clowny? If so, plunk down yer pennies on the stuff worth splurging on: Perfectly matching foundation and concealer. You may also consider snagging some quality brushes, because they’ll last forever and help your makeup look flawless. Check out what the artist uses, but be sure to do your homework–you may find the same stuff cheaper online, so don’t feel pressured to buy them right then and there.
Save your cash on the other stuff. Generally with eyeshadow, liner, lip gloss, blush, and mascara, drugstore brands are a lot cheaper but don’t look any different!
