What Are The Bases . . . When It Comes To Sex

ZOMG! Did you hear? Zach totally went to second base with Kaitlin, Brittany and David scored on first and Jordan totally hit a home run!!

Really?! Wait… What?

So, everyone is talking about who went to what base and it’s leaving you kinda clueless, right? That’s how I felt on a daily basis in the middle school girls’ bathroom. Third base? Strikeout? I was lost. Let’s break it down, shall we? What the heck are the bases anyway?

These baseball terms are sexual euphemisms. The whole thing is a little dated because it assumes that, as in a game, that the goal is to win by eventually go all the way. The real deal is that the goal is to be wherever you are comfortable being. There’s no higher or lower social or sexual value on “achieving” one “level” or another. Plus, these bases are kind of controversial, since they are only built on heterosexual sex. What about girls who like girls? Or guys who like guys? Anyway. Let’s get down to it and help you figure out what the bases mean:

First Base
First base usually refers to tongue kissing, which is also called french kissing or frenching. This is kissing another person on the lips with an open mouth. Your tongues are engaged, hence the term tongue kissing. Interesting trivia: In France they call this a “lover’s kiss.” In another odd sports metaphor, some call french kissing “playing tonsil hockey.”

If one person touches or kisses another person’s breasts, for example, that’s considered “going to second base.” This has also been called heavy petting, feeling him or her up or making out.</p><p><strong>Third Base</strong><br /> Traditionally, at third base sexual play below the waist enters the picture. If one person puts their hands or mouth on the other person’s genitals, they’re on third base. In other words, fingering, a hand job or oral sex is third base.</p><p><strong>Home Base</strong><br /> Home base is also called a home run or going all the way. This generally means that the couple had penis-vagina sexual intercourse if the partners are male and female. If the partners are two women, then this model of “scoring” by “sliding into home” kind of doesn’t work.</p><p><strong>Strikeout</strong><br /> A strikeout generally means that nothing sexual happened. In baseball or softball, a strikeout happens when a batter is unable to hit the ball three times. This means that the batter who can’t hit the ball is essentially the loser.</p><p>In real life, however, a strikeout is not a failure. It is okay to be wherever you are sexually. Each base is not necessarily a precursor to sex. Do only what you feel comfortable with. It’s your body, not a game, and you have full rights to it!</p><p><strong>What do you think?     As i heard of the bases my friends referred to them as the “Four F’s” . French, Fondle, Finger(basically sex prep. fingering, giving oral, etc.), and finally Fuck.

    Wow bases,really! In a way, it’s so childish, then it’s kinda understandable. Whenever I hear people taking about it I laugh, I guess it’s something funny about comparing sex to bases and the way guys say score, it’s a mega LOL for me, just think 20 years from now they’ll call it dirty boxxing or something just as silly!

    I think it is just better to simply put that second base is dry humping or groping another person’s more intimate parts. Also I believe that the bases can still be defined in a homosexual relationship. 1st is still making out, 2nd groping, 3rd base is oral sex, and 4th base is intercourse either anally or with the use of toys. However I do agree about doing what you feel comfortable with, ideally I would want people to wait for sex till marriage and until they are ready to but that is me.

    I was always told this way, with hand gestures; first *touch lips*, second *touch breasts* third *touch hips* fourth *pelvic thrust* lol
