My First Time Getting The Guy

I was in eighth grade, and although of course I’d had crushes before, I’d never actually acted on them. Anyway. It was the first day of school and this super gorgeous boy walked into my homeroom. He looked like a freaking angel. No kidding. Golden blond hair, clear blue eyes, slightly tan–but with rosy cheeks, and a smile that could knock over Hulk Hogan from across the room.

This kid was not joking around when it came to being cute.

He was new, and I was feeling bold, so I walked over and introduced myself. He seemed relieved to have someone to talk to, and I was . . . completely dazed by how much more gorgeous he was up close. I noticed some other girls looking over at him as we talked, but I didn’t care. I was there first!

He asked me which teachers were hardest, and where he should hang out at lunch (the quad. duh.) but then the bell rang, meaning homeroom was over! I wanted to say something flirty, but didn’t want to be too obvious, so I asked him when his birthday was, explaining that I was “a freak about birthdays” and that I knew when everybody’s birthday was. (A total lie, but a good one, right?!). To my total surprise, his birthday was in two days. JACKPOT!

When I got home, I told my mom that I had to go to the store to get a birthday card for a friend at school. I’m pretty sure she knew I was up to something–but then I was always up to something–so she drove me to the drugstore anyway. After scouring the shelves for like, an hour, I finally picked out the perfect card. It was blue, had a funny looking dog on it, and said I hoped he had a happy birthday. CLEARLY he would understand that this meant I totally wanted to be his girlfriend and maybe get matching air-brushed T-shirts at the beach that summer, right?!

Right! I brought him the card, he blushed and said, “You remembered?!” and then asked me out right then and there. I think we only went out for a couple weeks until we realized we had basically nothing in common, but whatever. He was adorable and I got the guy! Woohoo!

Have you ever gotten the guy? What did you do to get your guy? Are you too shy to approach new guys? Tell me everything in the comments!

I’m turning 14 in August, and I have a crush on my best guy friend, who’s the same age as me. We are really close, have been since the begining of grade seven. Ever since last February (Feb. 2011), I’ve been doing EVERYTHING I can to make him and I more than friends. I mean, I can’t make him like me but I do things to make myself more attractive to him, but what I see every day in and out of school has been almost all positive signs that I’m getting closer. But, the weird thing is, when him, his best friend, my best friend and I started to hang out lots and become close friends, him and I got along really, really well, he seemed more appealed to me than my bestie and I obviously was appealed to him. However, I am really shy, especially around my crush, so the only time we talked alone is when he started the convos– which was actually quite often– so we didn’t get as close as I wanted. But, after a couple times just hanging out more, especially out of school, him and I got even closer and more comfortable with each other. Still not as close as I wanted though. When I was diagnosed with chronic Lymes disease, I missed more than seven weeks of school. I started coming back to school in the last two weeks before summer, and strangely, I noticed he’s been really friendly, like way friendlier and more comfortable than he was before. Like we were absolute best friends before. Every time he sees me in the hallway he says hi and talks to me, walks with me in the hall lots, comes to my locker/classroom door at the end of class, always wants to carry my binders or school supplies, he also I think flirts with me: complimenting me on feminine things such as my hair, wants to know how I’m feeling with my Lymes and tells me he felt so bad and was worried, is really nice to me, tries to make me laugh, wanting to carry my things like I said and lots more. He used to pay a lot more attention to my best friend, probably because I was so shy, but once I started to become more bold and outgoing (which takes a lot of couarge from me), things started to get a lot better between him and I. I kinda am addicted to seeing him since he is so nice to me in a flirtier way.

I really like this guy at my summer school, he is sooo freaking gorgeous! He’s waayyy taller than me, but I like him anyway. I’m like the midget and he’s like the giant. Lol. I’m too shy to try to talk to him, because he’s always with his friends, and they are all boys. Help! Please tell me what to do!
