If your hair is naturally straight, it may be prone to extra oiliness in the summertime. If that’s the case, switch out your regular shampoo for an anti-dandruff or clarifying formula three times a week to get rid of any residue you might have at your roots to weigh your strands down. Also be sure that when you condition to only condition the ends–conditioning your roots will make them look greasy! Nobody wants their summer hair to resemble and old fast food meal!

If you still get oily roots even with a clarifying shampoo, keep blotting papers–the same kind you use when your nose gets shiny–and use those on your roots along your part. If it’s really bad or you know you’ll be out all day, keep some dry shampoo handy (many come in purse-sized sprays) to sop up any grease. Just remember to brush so it doesn’t look like you’re going gray!
