feminism is awesome

I don’t know how, but somehow a lot of people think feminism is this big, scary rigid thing for girls who don’t know how to have fun. The thing is, all those people have it wrong.

Feminism is actually super-awesome: it’s sex-positive (woohoo!), kind of bad ass (think Buffy Summers, ladies!), and it’s got the power to save the world.

Not quite convinced yet? Keep reading with me to find out what makes feminism so awesome–and why YOU will be calling yourself a feminist before you know it!

Wait a minute… You mean to tell me that life isn’t fair??? Stop the fucking presses!

How about you just be yourself and do w/e makes you happy. Labeling yourself one thing or another shouldn’t change your prospective on life. To be honest I think this article is a load of bull but that’s just my opinion someone else might find it helpful. Bottom-line don’t feel pressured to act one way or another just because someone else labels if as bad. Just be yourself. Screw other people.

It’s definitely bull. Especially point one. What’s cool about telling girls to ignore our natural aversion to fucking random sketchbags? Some will put on an act about ‘enjoying’ hookups, but 9 times out of 10 they just leave girls feeling depressed–not because of shaming, because sex without intimacy is hollow. The truth is that ‘hookup culture’ is yet another trend that people follow out of conformity.

I hate feminists who are bordering on being female supremacists. Or the ones that are more like, ” I want equal rights for men and women, except when I get special treatment because I’m a woman.”

Uhm, this…doesn’t work. This is a fail, and I would be mad if I was a feminist and I saw this. So I guess I’m mad either way.
All of the things you mentioned can happen with or without feminism. For example, a non-feminist woman and a feminist woman both sleep around, they’re both called sluts by SOMEBODY. I eat whatever I want, and I’m not a feminist. At least not in the modern sense. It’s actually quite rude to imply that the only way women can accomplish anything is to be a feminist. There are non-feminist women who eat whatever they want, sleep with whomever they want, become modern-day heroes, and care about stuff! This post has implied that a non-feminist just sits around and starves herself, pining for someone who hook up with, not contributing to society at all. How rude and condescending… I get the feeling that I am being looked down upon!

Really nice post, but uhh.. am I the only one who noticed the use of esthetically perfect girls in the photos…?

You had me at Buffy Summers! :D

As wierd as this sounds… After reading this, I still don’t understand feminism. Is it a religon? Or just plain and simply being a girl? Or both?
Also, if you want an example of feminism (or what is in my mind feminism) read Stargirl by Jerry Spinelly. When you read it, you’ll know what I mean!

    • avatarAlex says:

Anyone who believes men and women should have equal rights and treatment is a feminist. For example, in Reason #1, feminism is against the double standard that men re “players” and women are “sluts”.
It’s not really a religion but a kind of civil rights movement. Anybody can be a feminist, regardless of gender, religion, political beliefs, race, or anything else.

Most people already are feminists even if they don’t call themselves such. If you asked someone on the street “should women be inferior to men and held at a double standard?”, few would say yes.

Hope that was helpful! Also, this reply is super late so sorry if it’s irrelevant to you at this point.

This is a far too romanticsed and over-simplified view of what feminism is or can be.

what about sarah palin? why is everyone on this site a democrat.

      ………

    • avatarSC says:

Apparently the “Sisterhood” reason only applies to other girl/women that are democrats who are pro-baby killing. Feminism is all about taking the feminitity out of girls. We girls and boys were made different, enjoy the differences, don’t try to erase them.
