I had “the talk” with my dad when i was in fifth grade. I’m seventeen now and i can obviously see that times have changed, so i may have been learning about sex a little late, but who cares? I learned about it, and as awkward as it was, me and my friends (that don’t find it awkward to talk about sex with each other) laugh about it now. It definitely makes for an interesting conversation piece. I definitely am not a person who is insane about waiting until marriage, but i do feel that i would only have sex with someone that i know i’m in love with and someone i want to have children with in the future, but who says you can’t have fun and still hook up without all the extra baggage that some (not all) guys expect?

Talking with your parents about sex is the best thing you can do. Especially your dad, because he’s a guy and he used to be a teen so he can tell you just what guys are thinking. Sure, they might exaggerate some things to scare you a little, but they’re telling the truth. My dad is very realistic, he doesn’t lie or fabricate things for me to make everything seem easier, because its not. I believe in God, and want to wait till I’m married to make love. But its not going to be easy at all, so when ever I’m thinking about it I try to talk to my parents, to remind my self of the reality of the situation. I believe that sex is a gift that you give to your husband, and that special gift can only be given once. I know staying a virgin will be a huge struggle for me, but I believe its the right thing to do. Anyway talk to your dad and mom you won’t regret it.
