“I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama told ABC News in an interview.
The fact that the president went on national television to endorse same-sex marriage is a massive step in the right direction. I know some of you might be thinking, “Way to be late to the game, Prez.” We say better late than never!
It’s amazing how shows like Glee, Pretty Little Liars, and Modern Family can be a million steps ahead of the law. No one made a big deal out of Kurt and Blaine dating on TV–in fact millions of viewers were stoked when they got together. Can anyone say that Emily and Maya weren’t totally adorable together? Yeah, it’s just a TV show, but they are hugely successful TV shows. That means millions of people are OK with same-sex couples, and that they probably support same-sex marriage, yet we’re only listening to the ones who oppose it? Give me a break.
We know not all of you are psyched about this and that you have your reasons, but we have to say get over it. The constitution entitles everyone to their own opinions and lifestyle–as long as it doesn’t stifle anyone else’s freedom. Keep your views, fine, but can we just LEGALLY stay out of other people’s business?! It is no one’s place to decide who can love who. A ban on same-sex marriage is a ban on love.

For those who still think same-sex marriage is against God’s will:
1) Shut the fuck up. Don’t speak for someone else! You DON’T know if God hates gay people. If he MADE THEM HIMSELF, then why would he HATE THEM? Seriously… Get over it, people…
2) I hope your child acts better than you about the world when they’re older.
3) Well, shit! Thank God YOU’RE not getting married to another man or woman! It doesn’t affect you in the slightest! Stop acting like it does. Grow up and accept the fact that it’s going the be an “issue” for the rest of our lives.

the only reason obama is saying this now is to get votes. duh! think about it,he is just now saying this when elections are coming up this year.people are idiots if they think reelecting him will make him legalize same sex marriage.if he is reelected,he wont do anything like always and procrasinate.
It should totally be legal- Its really a religious belief why so many people disagree, but ever heard of separation of church and state? Their citizens therefore they have the right to marry anybody be it if they are marrying a guy or a girl.
i belive in same sex relationships and marriages. i am bisexual and i am not scared to tell anyone. i think obama has finally came around!!!!
Well I have to disagree same sex marrige is horrible if every one married their same sex we wouldn’t have babies. I do feel that if you love someone then that’s fine.
Well for one, not everyone is going to get married to the same sex.
And two, the world is already overpopulated with starving children, so maybe less babies is okay and the gay couples can adopt all the babies who don’t have parents.

its sooo true that people that dont agree with same sex marriage need to get over it. it isn’t their business who other people fall in love with. if you’re straight thats fine and if you’re gay that’s fine too. i honestly don’t understand why it matters so much. and it’s ridiculous that it’s still illegal.
Same sex marriage should totally be legal. Its not fair that everyone else should get the right to marry whoever they want but when it comes to the LGBT community still have to fight to marry the people we love. people need to get over theirselves. I was listening to the radio and this pastor was like I don’t think I can support Obama if he supports Gay marriage. That doesn’t make sense to me. But anyway Gay Marriage should so totally be LEGAL !!!! Forget everyone who thinks otherwise.
I completely support same-sex marriage and relationships. there’s absolutely nothing wrong with either. even if there are religious beliefs that dont agree- and i’m catholic and fully support gay marriage and relationships- religions shouldn’t impose their ideologies on other people, and learn to join the 21st century. go obama!

No, it’s not OK to marry a duck. A duck is not a sentient being. A duck cannot consent to marriage. You can’t even marry a PERSON who doesn’t want to marry you, so no you cannot marry a duck. A duck does not have consciousness and self-awareness the way a person does. I’m sorry, this duck that you’re in love with does not love you back, Frank.
The argument that if we allow two human beings of the same sex to get married, people will start marrying furniture and animals is absurd. Do you not recognize gay people as humans? Are you equating the intelligence and genetic make up of a gay person to a duck? I can assure you homosexual people have the same amount of chromosomes as you or I or any other homo sapien.
Two adults of the same gender have the ability to think for themselves and therefore the ability to decide who they would like to enter a relationship with.
Same-sex marriage so so totally be legal. Equal rights for all.

I am Canadian an proud to say that for us Canadians same sex marriage has been legalized all over Canada for a while

I don’t agree with same sex marriage, but I also feel it should be legal, who are we to say who has a right to love and who doesn’t?
While same sex relationships is something I don’t agree with, I do feel everyone has their rights and you shouldn’t be turned away from things like marriage or other basic things because of your race, sexual preference and things like that.
