The first thing you need to do to get over him? You need to let it hit you and let yourself be sad. It seems almost the opposite of what you want, right?
Thing is, if you don’t let yourself be bummed now, you’re gonna be depressed later on when you least expect it–or this is gonna drag out a lot longer than you want it to. So don’t beat yourself up for being sad. Instead, give yourself a week to get the tough stuff out of the way now. Be a hermit if you need to, and don’t be afraid to call your best friend–she will understand, because chances are she’s been there! Reread love letters and texts, cry, watch The Notebook on repeat, eat all the ice cream you want, and sing “Someone Like You” until you have no voice left.
The key here? When your week is up, so is your wallowing. Having a specific goal date set to get yourself together will probably help you actually do it!
