How To Get Attention At Work

Though it seems like the most obvious solution, the last thing you want to do is brag about your work! All it’ll do is elicit eye rolls and resentment from your coworkers, and you want them on your side.

Your best bet? Show up early and do your best. Pitch in to help your coworkers with projects when you’re done with your own and be sure to compliment the team when you achieve something great.

Also, don’t be afraid to ask your boss questions about anything you’re curious about or don’t understand. She’ll be honored and flattered that you asked, and she’ll be happy to help you do the best work you can. Make your boss’s job (and life) easier!

Another tip: Look professional and neat, since you’re representing your company–and you never know who you might meet on the job!

A great one for school and classmates is to look comfortable and content in the moment. Don’t stress out about your next period with the huge oral presentation or groan about wanting to go home. Be pleased to be living in the moment, especially in group work and “down” class time (read: substitutes, etc.). Your classmates will see your tranquility and confidence and will notice you more. If they notice you, the teacher definitely will, especially if your peers start following your example!
