How To Get Noticed In Class

No one likes a kiss up, but sometimes (like around finals!) you may need to hedge your bets with your grades, or you may just dig a subject so much that you just want to learn more about it and bond with your instructor.

Your first course of action should be to simply do all of your work and study your cute butt off. Whether or not your teacher comes out and says it, they love seeing you do well, and they’ll associate you with hard work, good grades, and a feeling of accomplishment when they get around to putting “As” on your report card.

If you’re struggling in a particular class, it helps to show your teacher that you’re putting forth an effort. Ask for help after school if you need it–your teacher will be impressed at your taking initiative and will be glad to give you the extra attention you need, or at the very least may be able to recommend a tutor.

Other ways to bond with your teacher? Offer to volunteer to help pass out papers or make copies. Ask a lot of questions (if they’re relevant!), or join the club she runs after school.

A great one for school and classmates is to look comfortable and content in the moment. Don’t stress out about your next period with the huge oral presentation or groan about wanting to go home. Be pleased to be living in the moment, especially in group work and “down” class time (read: substitutes, etc.). Your classmates will see your tranquility and confidence and will notice you more. If they notice you, the teacher definitely will, especially if your peers start following your example!
