Let’s do a little movie matchmaking—if you love Easy A and Naploean Dynamite, are kind of a little quirky yourself, and love funny, strong girl characters you have to check out this movie I just watched: Turn Me On, Dammit!
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the trailer had all the right stuff. A comedy about a girl who was really into self-love (think um, the opposite of the pie scene in American Pie!) but I honestly had no idea I would fall in love with this strange, little film from Norway.
What’s super cool about this movie is that it shows you teenage girls like they’re almost never depicted–as sexual beings—who get horny, who want sex, who (dare I say it) masturbate. Director Jannicke Systad Jacobsen is right on the money with the character Alma. Alma is played by Helene Bergsholm who totally captures the hormonal, awkwardness of crushing a little too hard on the boy next door, Artur.
The movie starts with her calling a phone sex hotline and masturbating on the kitchen floor as her dog watches. Alma is constantly fantasizing about everyone she knows from her female BFFs, their goofy dad, to Artur her crush. The movie takes a totally weird turn when Artur randomly shows Alma his penis and pokes her with it (I know, wtf?!). Alma is totally enthused with the situation and tells everyone she knows, “Artur—he poked me with his dick!” Making Artur her BF totally backfires when he denies everything and the kids at school start making fun of her. “Dick Alma” is what they call her—the most hilariously, brutal nickname ever.

saw this a couple days ago. I’ll admit, it was a bit uncomfortable at times because I went with my friend who is both a very very new friend and a guy. But I highly recommend it. Completely disregarding the plot line and characters (which are also pretty great and funny) the scenes were just beautifully shot. Each frame is like a piece of art. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into the arrangements of the people, props, and color. Watch this!

Saw this a few days ago, it was really awesome. I do think that girls do want sex as much as guys it’s just that guys are more open. This movie shows how a teen becomes more open about her sexuality and how strong she can be for going against the crowd. Recommend
