Hi Heather,
So I just read something on here about a girl who wished she could have bigger boobs. Well, this is the opposite. I can’t stand my boobs! I’m only 14 and they are gigantic! It’s really weird and awkward for me because I hear all these girls saying they want bigger boobs and I’m like NO you don’t! But they never listen!
I had heard something one time before, that you can stop breast growth with something like a food or something… is this true? They are still growing! Also, if that isn’t bad enough… 1. My parents are really big on the “not showing too much skin” and since I have big boobs, I can’t wear more than half of my wardrobe! I feel like a… sausage!! 2. I can’t run in a regular bra without having them jump around and I’m very active. I don’t want to wear a sports bra my whole life!
I feel awful! No amount of boys liking me will help either! Help?!
I’m going to tell you the same thing I told this girl who has the opposite problem: there’s no reason for you to hate your big boobs! I know right now you feel totally awkward about them and you don’t know how to deal – and that’s normal. But I promise one day you’ll grow into them and you’ll probably even learn to love them, as crazy as that might sound right now.

See how cute this looks?! | Source: ShutterStock
As much as you want to shrink your breasts, that isn’t going to be possible unless you have plastic surgery – contrary to what you read online, there is no magic food that will make them smaller. Having breast reduction surgery is a big deal, and isn’t something you should be considering at such a young age. If in a few years your boobs are really hurting your back or really getting in the way of things, then you could think about it. But since surgery changes your body forever, you should first try to learn to feel comfortable with yourself.
That being said, I know finding clothes that fit or sports bras that really work can be very difficult with larger breasts. But it’s not impossible! If you don’t want to show off too much of the girls, steer clear of low-cut shirts like V-necks. If you want to wear those, cute tank tops should become your new best friends. Layer them under pretty much anything – they’ll cover you up, and layering is totally chic.
As for the sports bra issue, you’re unfortunately going to have to invest in a good one in order to play sports and run around. But don’t freak out – every athlete should be wearing sports bras when they’re being active.
I know it’s hard to learn to accept your body, but try not to feel too uncomfortable about your boobs. Obsessing over them is only going to make you feel worse – feel lucky about what you have! There are a lot of girls who would love bigger breasts, so remember that the grass is always greener on the other side.
take care,
heather

i am with ya here. I am 14 and i am a 34-36C i hate it. I only own 2 bras because no bras fit me and i am a little over weight as u can say. 162 pounds to be exact. I HATE IT EVERYDAY!!!! But you have to think a little postive. One of my friends is 13 and weighs 165 and a size 36D and she learnd to love her curves and her boobs. For me it will take a little getting used to.
I can relate. Im only 13 and in a C36. all of the girls in my grade wear like an A34. And the girls that are supposed to be my friends, used to always tease me about it. The boys in my grade had thier fare share of comments too. It made me really upset. But now im in 8th grade and everyone wants big boobs. So now im okay with them, it took some getting used too but now thats my favorite part of my body. TEEHEE
I feel your pain! I’m 17 and I wear a 34DDD in bra size! Right now I’m trying to get a breast reduction, but it cost a lot! The reason I want it because I have back pains and I really don’t like them.
I had big breasts from the age of just 9 and I’m 18 now and I still do. I wear a 36 DD. Why don’t you like having big breasts? I don’t think BIG or small breasts make you less attractive. Hey, guys actually like big breasts. You have to accept the way God made you. I received a lot of attention through my teenager years even when I was younger than a teenager, not from just my breasts, but my butt as well. I don’t know if you like attention or not, but you can’t help the way you were created. I don’t think you want to consider reduction or any kind of surgery on your breasts at such a young age. And most definetly, you do not want your body destroyed because of the outcomes. What if you regret it because you are not satisfied with what you allowed done to you? Love yourself. What are you gonna do?
Who cares what guys like? Why do people like yourself always try to tell girls and women what decisions to make by what “guys” like? Do they have to live in this girl’s body? No! She does! So if SHE wants a reduction because SHE hates her breasts, then SHE needs to do it for HER, not keep something SHE hates because some men may like big breasts! We are not put on earth to revolve around what men want!
I’m 16 and i have G cups n I’m skinny o.o nuff said
I know that feeling. Trying to find well-fitting bras is difficult. I usually wear size 28HH, although 26J would be truly ideal. Luckily I have never felt that I had too big breasts, I like myself and my body. Sometimes I get nasty comments from others, but I don’t even bother thinking them anymore.
i guess you can reduce your breast size if you loose weight all over your body… try looking over the internet for exercises…!
no that does not really work it will only make you skinny as a bored because boobs are not fat they are something else
Boobs are fat and if you exercise they probably will go down in size. I lost 25 pounds from exercising and i went from a 36DD to a 34D. They may not if you don’t have any weight to lose. I used to hate having big boobs but now I’m starting to like them even if they can be a bit annoying at times.
I hope you find something that works for you! I’m almost 21 and I cry every time I try on clothes/bra/bathing suits because they all look terrible on me. I’m 5’1 and am a size 32 DDD. I can never find anything that looks good and when my friends all say they want my boobs, I tell them no, you don’t. I wish I could find clothes that look good, but it’s either too low, or fits my waist but not my bust.
im 15 6’1 nd have 36 DDD nd ik how you feel i dont feel comfortable in a lot of my clothes =/ i wish theyre was a way to make em smaller id be happy with a C
I really don’t see why young girls should have to wait until they are in serious pain to have reductions. More damage is not better.
If a girl has extremely large breasts and she is large then help with reducing weight, even just a little, could help.
If she has large breasts and she is thin she should consult with her physician. Also, there was a study in Sweden a few years ago that said drinking 3 cups of coffee a day will make breasts shrink. I’m not sure if there has been any more research on it but I know I have added coffee to my daily routine since reading that.
I should add: minimizer bras are fabulous. They come in many beautiful designs and prevent bouncing better than sports bras. They also make you look nicer in clothes.
I’m a 32g and i hate my boobs. can’t wait to get a breast reduction. I was a 32d in the 8th grade and they just kept growing from there, then I had my daughter and went to a 34ddd. im just so done.
This post makes me so sad. I was totally that teenager. The summer I was 14 or so, I went from a B to a D+ in a few months. Luckily, my mom has large breasts as well, so she took me to go get fitted from a proper store (NOT Victoria’s Secret). But the store still didn’t have my size, so for the next several years I wore 32DDs. These big, foam cup things that covered my entire breast, except for where I bulged out of the cups. The band seemed to fit, or at least nothing else went smaller.
I was a skinny, skinny kid. I rode my bike and rode horses, I was all muscle and bone. But I had these breasts that made my entire body look out of proportion. Because it was the grunge era, I wore giant shirts that made me feel even worse about my body, because I felt fat. Tighter shirts just pulled and stretched and made me feel grotesque in another way. Riding horses was painful, though I was lucky to find Shock Absorber bras that kept my boobs in check.
And then as I hit college and met other friends who had my same breast issue. I learned that your bra should be flat across the back, and not ride up at all. I learned that if you feel like you have to adjust your bra throughout the day, you are wearing the wrong size. I learned that most department stores do not carry larger cups or smaller bands, and as a size 2 jean, I was DEFINITELY in need of a smaller band.
I hated my breasts. I desperately wanted a breast reduction as my mom had, because my back hurt all the time. Our health insurance even would have paid for it, but my mom wouldn’t let me get one. Now I’m glad I did not, because I have learned how to dress and care for my breasts in a way that makes me feel confident and good about my body.
Now I wear v-neck tops with camisoles underneath to break up the space. I wear cardigans and other button up tops with layers underneath. Earrings, necklaces, scarves all distract from my cleavage. But more importantly than steering away from the big baggy look was finding the right kind of bra. Wearing a 30FF, I felt supported for the FIRST time since getting breasts. I could run! In a normal bra, even! I felt skinnier because my breasts actually looked smaller when properly supported. I felt more presentable because my breasts weren’t bulging out all over.
I like my breasts now, even as they keep growing. (Which they will, both grow and shrink, throughout your life.) It’s difficult to find bras that fit, but when they do: It’s so worth it.
Letter writer, I hope you do not have to wait until you turn 24 like I did. Please, go read about how bras should fit (A Sophisticated Pair.com has a good tutorial, so does Butterfly Collection.ca), and then seek out the right bra. If it’s not comfortable, don’t buy it. Keep searching. It’s worth it. YOU’RE worth it.
if u knw how much was the cost for breast reduction for ur mum.m so desperate
You are almost certainly not a 42DD. A 42 equals a waist size of about a UK size 22, which is a US size 20. If you are slim then you do not measure 42.
Here’s a bra fitting guide for you: http://sophiajenner.wordpress.com/2011/06/18/are-you-wearing-the-correct-bra-size/
Find your correct size first. I am a 30GG, and having big boobs doesn’t always equal pain in the right bra. I have K-cup friends who manage very well.
I’d really encourage the girls reading this to look into proper bra fitting (especially the first respondent wearing a 42DD). The best starting point is to take your underbust=band size and find your cup size by taking the difference between your bust and underbust. That might lead to a cup size that sounds larger than what you expected BUT having a tight band is absolutely vital if you want enough support for your back. You can see a big difference too as shown here: http://www.thinandcurvy.com/2011/05/where-to-find-26-and-24-band-bras-and.html
Sports DO exist in larger cup sizes check out Panache, Freya, and Bravissimo just to name a few. You can also find tops that are made according to your bust size at Pepperberry, BiuBiu, AJ Rumina, and Carissa Rose. There are other stores that make clothes to custom measurements that you can buy online like ureshii and eshakti.
I dealt with a lot of body image issues growing up too but I have to say that they only started to go away once I started buying bras in the correct size and clothes that fit. Don’t hate your body because mainstream clothes and bras don’t fit well. MOST women don’t know how to find bras that fit. Instead, find ones that work for you.
I’m 22, and wear a 42 DD (That’s bigger than Pamela Anderson’s…). I’m also very thin, so finding clothing that fits properly is IMPOSSIBLE, and I can’t even find bras at Victoria’s Secret! I don’t know why anyone would actually get surgery to get boobs this big! I hate them, and I’m going to look like the hunchback of Notre Dame by the time I’m 50! I used to love the attention they got me, but now it’s just not worth it… I’m totally getting breast reductions if I can ever afford it…
There is absolutely no way that a 42 band is remotely the right size for you if you are thin! The band needs to be snug enough to support your breasts, otherwise you will have back pain, lots of bouncing, grooves in your shoulders from the weight, etc. Cup size is related to band size, so you need to go down quite a few band sizes and up a cup size for each band size you go down. A properly fitting DD cup isn’t actually that big.
Try measuring yourself here: http://www.thinandcurvy.com/2010/10/how-to-measure-your-bra-size-correct.html
The site also has information about clothing for girls who are slim with bigger busts.
Out of curiosity, how thin are you? The reason I ask this is because VS adds about 6 inches to your ribcage to find your band size. They only go up to a DD in their bras, so they put women in extra big bands to compensate for their lack of sizes. If you can, go to Walmart & get yourself a fabric tape measure. Measure your ribcage just under your bust, tightly, & parallel all the way around. This should be your band size. The band needs to be snug to do the job of supporting the breasts. You will have to go up in cup size, though. But don’t be scared because your bras will fit you better than ever & you will be so comfortable! There’s a great fitting video here http://www.brastop.com. trust me!! I had a reduction 11 years ago, but because of weight gain & birth control, they grew back. Knowing about this way of fitting for bras saved me! I am now happily wearing a 28H. http://Www.bravissimo.com is also a great place to shop. You would love the Freya Deco bra! I also run a bra fitting Facebook page called BRAvolution. I hope you will find me. You don’t have to hate your boobs!! Best of luck, Laura
I’m 16 and a 34DD. I’ve gone up a cup size every year since 6th grade! I used to absolutely hate them, especially when I would hear other girls gossip about how I definitely stuffed and rumors like that. I hated it… If they only knew how much I wished they were smaller!

Sometimes guys still tease me about it… Just the stupid immature ones though. I think of it as a way to weed out the guys not worth talking to
And for the few I’ve decided were worth it? Well, let’s just say I came around…
Now I absolutely love them! And I can almost guarantee you will too. Sure, they have their inconveniences. But trust me, they’re worth it. Just give it time
im 14 @ have size D boobs..i used to HATE them but now their like my favorite thing about my body =P
Whoooa mama those are huge melons you got there!! When I was 14-16 my current age I wore a 32-36 C which is fantastic! I love having big boobs cus they make you more curvy,
busty, sexy, and attractive!
Even if you have small boobs don’t be depressed, usually gurls who have small boobs have big butts.
I have both tho! I’m soo lucky! (:
Christina, the way you’re phrasing things is pretty hurtful. Not to me personally, but to all the girls coming in who feel self-conscious about their boobs at any size.
Big breasted girl: “Huge melons? Aw man, I don’t want huge MELONS.”
Small breasted girl: “But I don’t want/have a big butt!”
This whole meme about being voluptuous is the only sexy way to go just needs to burn in a fire. Everyone’s pretty.
