I think it depends. If it’s with really close guy friends, and it’s just joking and playful, I think it’s fine, so long as they both see it that way. I don’t get mad when girls flirt with my boyfriend, so long as they either don’t know he’s in a relationship of it’s the playful flirting described above, because it is human nature. Generally, if it’s really obvious and he doesn’t know them very well, he’ll tell them he’s in a relationship, generally by saying he has to text his girlfriend back, and that’s solved any issues. And of course, there’s the situations like our drama department, where everyone flirts with everyone, just because it’s fun. Same sex, opposite sex, doesn’t matter, because it’s not serious. New people join in at their own pace, and it’s a way we bond. It’s playful and we’re just joking around, generally using very over the top techniques. We’re all so comfortable with one another, and it’s not for any reason other than fun, unless it’s more toned down, and we all know that.

A lot of us are in very serious relationships, especially with each other, but flirting is fun and all parties know hat it’s not serious.

However, I don’t think it’s a good idea if you know a guy is in a relationship and you flirt anyways when you don’t know him very well or have malicious intents.

I’d be careful, I started flirting with a guy friend who has a girlfriend and soon it turned into massive flirting everyday, everyone could see something was going on but I thought it was just innocent. He then tried to hook up with me when we were alone and I stopped it before anything happened, I told my friends but not a lot of people so it never got out and he’s still with his girlfriend.

I am presently at a crossroads with the same kind of situation. Before I knew that he was dating a girl I know, but am not close to, he was flirting with me all the time in class (and that didnt help me because I’ve liked him for about a year now). I don’t feel guilty flirting with him because I know my place. If things get too…yea…before they are over I’ll have no issue stopping.

I absolutely hate when single girls flirt with guys in relationships. It’s totally disrespectful to their relationship. I was actually standing about 2 metres away from my boyfriend when a girl he used to like (who didn’t like him back at that time) was flirting with his and it was really obvious. I was ready to run over and punch her because she knew he was in a relationship.

So flirt with a taken guy if you want but you risk getting punched…

flirting is harmless. i mean we all flirt with guys that are single or taken, its not gonna lead anywhere serious! flirt away and just have fun, thats what life is all about.. having fun and actually living your life. if you think its wrong to flirt with a guy who has a gf then dont do it.. but if you think its harmless then go right ahead! its your own choice, you shouldn’t think of what others think. just ask yourself.. “is flirting with a guy that has a gf bad?” if your gut say no, then that means no. if it says yes then thats a yes… just trust YOUR OWN instincts and have fun in life

I hate it when other girls flirt with my boyfriend. Part of the problem for me, though, is that he’s friends with girls he used to hook up with. And they’re the ones flirting with him. He doesn’t reciprocate, but he definitely doesn’t stop them, even though he knows it bothers me. He downplays it, says it’s harmless and that I shouldn’t care. I know he would never cheat on me, but I still feel like they’re being disrespectful and rude, and he should make it clear that it’s inappropriate. It bothers me a lot that he doesn’t do anything to stop it. It feels like they’re slapping me in the face right in front of him and he’s telling me that I should just shrug it off.

If I was single, I wouldn’t flirt with another girl’s boyfriend simply because I don’t want to disrespect someone else, stranger or not. It might be harmless to you, but you might be causing harm to someone else’s relationship. Why put that karma on yourself?

Meh, I don’t really see an issue with it. If I know he has a girlfriend I definitely lay off a lot though, but if he starts flirting with me, I flirt back. Simple as that. But I still try not to cross what I see as boundaries. Which is another issue, people have waaayyy too many opinions on what boundaries you can and cannot cross.. :/

Flirting isn’t a very big deal as long as you keep an eye on the certain boundries that go in between being cute and fun to being inappropriate. I guess it also matters to put your self in the situation of “how would the girlfriend feel about this?” if she believes it’s harmless to joke around and be cute then go for it, but if you aren’t sure about the person and decided to stay on the safe side; that’s good too. Just make sure you know the boundries and take into mind how your flirting can effect the key people around you (a.k.a the boy, his girlfriend, even your self) if it’s all looking okay then have a little fun!
