This Girl Was Handcuffed Over Her “Attitude”

Yajira Quezada, a sixth grade girl in Colorado, was stopped in the hall by a school administrator and gave her major attitude. Yajira interrupted her scolding mid-sentence, and said, “I don’t have time for this,” before starting to walk away.

What happened next seems absolutely insane to me–11-year-old Yajira was handcuffed by the cops and taken to a juvenile holding facility–which is like jail for kids. Seriously. The girl was essentially arrested for talking back to a school official.

I’m not a big fan of anybody being rude–and it seems like Yajira was definitely being a total brat–but homegirl did not deserve to be treated like a criminal. Extra homework and an hour of detention would have taught her the same lesson and been a bit more appropriate, I think!

Her mom is pissed, and other people are outraged, too. At any rate, Yajira apparently learned something from the whole experience, because she said that she won’t be giving school staff attitude anymore.

What do you think? Do you think Yajira deserved to be handcuffed? Do you think we need to be more tough on brattiness, or do you think the cops went overboard? Tell me what you think in the comments!

Are you too bratty? Find out here.

wow that is so uneccessary and so ridiculous. that school official wanted to show off her power and show this girl not to mess with her and the law was on her side.. wth? there’s something very wrong about that picture. this is a free country and you can say whatever you want to say right? apparently not. yes it was rude but you don’t need to go to jail for an attitude adjustment. if i was her mom i would be very pissed and would have aleady filed a lawsuit

I definitely think it’s a load of crap that she was handcuffed. This is why I’m not a fan of public schools though, they have too much control and too much power. It’s bullshit. The way that school officials walk all over children is disgusting in my opinion.
