Another one of our fave leading ladies is right in this book!

I heart a kickass leading lady. A strong female lead will make me love any story in a big way. All you have to do is give me a girl fighting vampires, a woman breaking her innocent mother out of jail or a Dixie Chicks song about a friend saving her bestie from a terrible relationship, and I’m in. Seriously, a strong female character can make me like the Dixie Chicks. The Dixie Chicks!

Even though I love these strong leading ladies, I think it’s super ridiculous how they’re made up to look so fabulous when they’re so busy fighting injustice and saving the world. I mean, when I had the extra responsibility of cat sitting last week, I was so stressed I forgot to brush my hair three days in a row! Heroines have way more responsibility than opening a can of Fancy Feast, like, you know, the fate of the whole world, and somehow manage to look damn good doing it.

I can tell you that if I had to fight the evil powers of The Hord day in and day out, I wouldn’t suit up in a sexy metal girdle and matching headband. I’d go more yoga pants and my seventh grade softball team shirt, every time.

Speaking of girls who carry a ton of responsibility and look great doing it, check out Embrace, the new release from Sourcebooks. Main character Violet Eden is the newest warrior in the centuries old battle between good and evil…and look at that pony tail! I think she used hot rollers!
