JK Rowling’s New Book: The Scoop on Her Post-Harry Potter Novel

Good news, Potterheads–there’s finally a little bit of into on JK Rowling’s new book!

The private author made a rare appearance on Twitter late last week, sending fans into a tizzy. “As you may have heard, I have a new book out later this year,” she wrote. “Very different to Harry, although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much.”

So what can we expect from the new novel? A big leap from wizards and witches, for one. Rowling has revealed very little about the new tome, but did say that it is an adult novel. The move makes sense when you consider that the original Harry Potter audience (hey, that’s us!) has grown up. Her work is simply growing with us! It’s both a smart business decision and a lesson in loyalty… Though we’ll miss Quidditch, for sure.

JK Rowling’s new book is being published at a new publishing house as well, which is one of the few bits of information she’s shared about it. “The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher,” she said in a press release. The title and release date are still TBA.

While details are scant, many have speculated that JK Rowling’s new book is a crime novel. (Perhaps the air of mystery surrounding the story is reflective of the story itself.) If it’s anywhere near as successful as her first foray into literature, we have no doubt that this may extend into a series as well — and hopefully a few movies!

Are you excited about the new novel? Will you camp out at midnight to snag JK Rowling’s new book? Let us know in the comments!

What I’ve read about the story line so far doesn’t interest me. A real snooze. It’s interesting though that she’s going with a new publishing house. Maybe this new company will edit it more closely. Those that are familiar with the Potter series will know exactly what I mean.
Why not publish it on her own? She would make loads more money. Maybe she thinks the the new book won’t be as successful and she doesn’t want lose any money. Good luck J.K.
