A ton of awesome movies came out this year, but was your favorite movie nominated for Best Picture at the 2012 Oscars?

Okay, I’ll admit it that I’ll be watching the 2012 Oscars mainly just to see what all my favorite actresses are wearing (and to catch a glimpse of Ryan Gosling!) but since the Academy Awards are really about recognizing the best, most awesome movies out there, I started wondering if any of my favorite movies were actually nominated for Best Picture at the 2012 Oscars.

Well, it turns out that Bridesmaids, Drive, and The Muppets–three of my favorite movies of last year–were left off the most important list, but there are still some pretty good choices on the final list of nominees.

The nominees for Best Picture are:

  • The Artist
  • The Descendants
  • Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
  • The Help
  • Hugo
  • Midnight In Paris
  • Moneyball
  • The Tree of Life
  • Warhorse

So, what do you think? Did you see any of those movies? Was there a movie you loved that didn’t get nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards? Did you love The Muppets as much as I did? Do you think the Oscars actually give awards to the best movies?

Start a discussion in the comments below–we really want to know what you think!

Arh I watched 4/10 from that list! I’d rank Inception and King’s Speech higesht though, and Black Swan for visuals maybe but I even think King’s Speech cinematography was amazing Where do you usually watch the oscars? (abc works outside the US?) maybe i’ll watch it this time, for once

I haven’t seen ANY of these movies. The only one I really wanted to see was “The Help,” and I’m reading the book right now. Not many totally awesome movies that have come out lately have gotten much time in the spotlight. I mean, HELLO, “Underworld,” “Sherlock Holmes,” and “Ghost Rider”? Those were all awesome movies and no one hears about them!
