90s Shoes
Some of the fashion trends we wore when we were younger are a little… questionable. Like, for example, these old-school shoes that we all used to be obsessed with. If I had to choose one word to describe footwear in the ’90s (and early 2000’s), it would have to be clunky. Seriously, how did we all comfortably walk around in these things?! Sure, a lot of them are still around, but they’ve been given a new look. Take a peak at these 11 nostalgic shoes and tell us what your favorite used to be!
1. Jellies

OMG. These were easily my favorite shoes when I was younger. They’re kind of like the ’90s version of Crocs. I did not go to the beach without them, and I had about a million different colors. Girls, you know your closets were filled with these too.
2. Heelys

These sneakers made it completely possible to be walking one second, and then casually gliding across the floor the next second. I mean, really, they were pretty awesome. Every kid had one – they even banned them in some schools. They were basically the rebel sneakers of our childhood.
3. Skechers
Source
Poor Skechers. They were one of the most popular shoe brands ever back in the day, and now they’re just pushing Step Up’s using Kim Kardashian. Who could forget these awesome ads including old-school versions of celebs like Christina Aguilera? Basically, if you didn’t own a pair of Skechers, you just weren’t considered trendy.
4. Doc Marten

Doc Martens are obviously still worn all the time, but in the early ’90s, people were rarely seen without them. They came in tons of different colors – these bright ones are so old school.
5. LA Lites

How cool were these when they first came out?! I remember not being able to believe that a shoe could be so cool and technologically advanced. I mean, obviously, who wouldn’t their heels to light up with every step they took? The only downside: it made winning manhunt so much more difficult.
6. Moon Shoes

Sadly, yes, these were actual shoes. Magical shoes that could bounce you around and make walking that much more fun. They were at the top of every kid’s Christmas wish-list at one point, no matter how hard it is to believe.
7. Spice Girls Inspired Platforms
Source
Remember when the Spice Girls used to wear these ridiculously huge platform boots, and we all wanted a pair of our own because they were the fashionistas of that generation? I mean, obviously. You guys don’t know how badly I wanted my own pair of neon knee-highs – but my mom turned me down every time.
8. Platform Sneakers
Source
For me, it was Baby Spice who made platform sneakers a must-have. That girl wore those things like it was her job! Plus, I was short so I thought these just made me look so much older. I mean, why were these so trendy? They’re crazy looking!
9. Reebok Pumps
Source
These sneakers were worn by pretty much everyone. They gave you your own custom fitting with just a few quick pumps! Even major athletes had these things on. And they came in tons of crazy colors and patterns. Admit it, you kind of miss them.
10. Mary Janes
Source
These particular Mary Janes are Cher’s from Clueless. And obviously, Cher was a fashion icon back in the ’90s, despite the fact that she was a fictional character. Mary Janes are obviously still around, but they really enjoyed a huge moment back then.
11. Sun Blossoms
Source
Sun Blossoms were designed by Paula Abdul for L.A. Gear (you all owned at least one pair of shoes from this brand, don’t lie) in the early ’90s. Flowers appeared on them when they were in the sunlight! They were really girly and fun, and kind of the coolest sneakers ever.
