No need to hide how brainy you are!
Dear Heather,
I’m the smartest girl in my grade, but I don’t want to be Miss. Smarty Pants in front of a boy I like. What should I do?
If you don’t mind me asking… why don’t you want your crush to see how smart you are?! If you’re the smartest girl in your class, than you need to own that, girl! You should never feel like you have to dumb yourself down in order for a guy to notice you or like you – in fact, if you do feel like that, then that dude you’re trying to impress is so not worth impressing.
Listen: I don’t know what, or who, made you feel like looking smart makes you undesirable to guys, but trust me when I say it doesn’t. I know that there’s that old stereotype saying that smart equals nerdy, and that is so not true. Being really smart is a great trait to have, and it’s one that will make you stand out from other people. In fact, most guys find smart girls really attractive.
And you know what else guys find really attractive in any girl? Confidence! Every dude loves a girl who loves herself and is proud of her accomplishments. I understand that it can be hard to feel confident in yourself, especially when you’re in high school and you’re experiencing all sorts of new things. But if you look at your intelligence as something that you love about yourself, then other people will take it the same way.
Natalie Portman? Super smart. Super awesome & crushable too.
I’m not saying that you have to continuously flaunt your smarts. There’s a big difference between confidence and cockiness; and while there’s nothing wrong with a little bragging sometimes, you don’t need to remind your crush over and over again about all of those straight A’s you’re getting. Just be yourself, and don’t try to put on an act. Guys can usually see straight through that.
If this guy isn’t into you just because you’re smarter than him, it’s probably because of his own insecurities. Don’t let that get you down, because one day you’ll find someone who loves the fact that you’re Miss. Smarty Pants, and will encourage you to always be that way.

Never hide your intelligence girls who do get on my nerves. All though it’s mean I make fun of them cause I want to be able to conversate on diff topics with my girl. It’s embarrassing when your wondering how your date wasn’t put on the short bus at school.

Never dumb yourself down just for a guy. If he truly likes you, he’ll accept you for you. If he doesn’t , don’t waste your time.

In my school I’m in all AP(advanced placement) classes. My boyfriend always jokes around with me and calls me a nerd. Lol but he’s only joking. In fact he always seems proud to tell people that his girlfriends in AP. He always seems to answer that question for me when someone asks.
