For Your FYI: Sex is Fun, AIDS Still Sucks

Sex is fun, but only if you're safe!

Tested? Check. Condoms? Check. Go for it, guys!

Fact: Eight out of ten American teens used condoms the first time they had sex.

Another Fact: The two that didn’t are idiots.

Seriously, we’ve all grown up knowing that AIDS is a killer, and that condoms can save your life. How could you not protect yourself?

I know, I know–condoms have a bad rap for ruining the mood during sex. Maybe I’m crazy, but I tend to have a lot more fun (doing anything!) when I’m not freaked out about getting a killer virus! Condoms give you the peace of mind so you can really enjoy the moment.

Condoms don't kill the mood, they actually make it even more chill.

And if a guy says you don’t have to use one because AIDS is only something gay guys get? He has no idea what he’s talking about. One in four people who gets AIDS in the U.S. is a woman or girl; and every day, roughly six new young people are diagnosed with the infection. I don’t want you to be one of them, so use a condom, girl. Every time.

Getting tested together is an awesome way to show how much you care for each other, and reduces it the drama so you can relax during sexy times! One in five people living with HIV, the virus that turns into AIDS, doesn’t even know they have it. That’s why it’s not good enough for your partner to say they know they’re clean—the only way to know is through a test at the doctor’s office or a clinic. Go here to find a confidential testing site near you.

We heart The Killers even more for helping stop AIDS worldwide.

Finally, since today is World AIDS Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of HIV and AIDS, here’s a way to help.  If you want to join the fight to stop AIDS worldwide, team up with Coldplay, Alicia Keys, and a lot of other amazing people to create a digital AIDS quilt. It’s fun and easy to create a virtual quilt square, and make a donation. Once you do, you can download a free song from The Killers as a thank you gift! Who knew paying it forward could pay you back?!

What are you doing to mark World AIDS Day? Are you making a virtual quilt square? Tell us in the comments.
