Hormones are a huge part of puberty. A hormone is a chemical released by a cell or a gland in one part of the body that sends out messages that affect cells in other parts of the organism.

During puberty, new and different hormones are released into your body. Those little guys are the reason you might gain or lose weight, go through mood swings, get some acne and lots more. A gURL’s body releases an estrogen hormone called estradiol, while a boy’s body releases more testosterone.
