Lil Wayne is stirring up a little bit of controversy with his recent Vibe magazine interview. The rapper gets into politics, and when asked if he feels like like the nation respects President Barack Obama, he basically said that Republicans will never accept black people.
He added, “I feel like as a people the most we can do is better ourselves and learn. Then look at yourself and ask, ‘Am I the person they’re talking about or am I not?’ You have to make the most of who you are because the Republicans are never going to like us.”
This is a pretty heavy statement, and we don’t really think Lil Wayne should be judging an entire group of people and claiming they’re racist. WDYT, gURLs? Do you think this is totally untrue or do you feel like he makes a good point? Are you or your family members Republican? Do you find this offensive? Discuss below.

Personally its his opinion and I agree with him I think that the republicans are more against the blacks while the democrats are for they blacks
You are ridicules
Some democrats don’t like black people. Some republicans don’t like black people. Some democrats like black people. Some republicans like black people. It’s not a political party that hates a race. It’s a person. yes there is no ” I ” in team .. but really? I’m not a democrat or a republican, but why does the republicans get blamed for not liking black people? Condoleeza Rice is a republican… and shes black. and people like her. and I’m pretty sure she likes black people herself |:
People think that democrats are for black people, and think that republicans are against black people.
People think that democrats want to help the poor people, and some people think republicans are rich and evil white people…
Not true.
Everyone is different. So when you say things like
” the republicans are never going to like black people” that is just really ignorant.
Lord have mercy.
I cant believe some people belive this Republicans are not Racist. The people that are racist are the Democratic like john mccain.
I’M A HARDCORE REPUBLICAN AND HAVE TONS OF BLACK FRIENDS, AND BEFORE THIS ABSOLUTELY IGNORANT COMMENT I ACTUALLY LIKED LIL WAYNE. WAY TO LOSE FANS WITH YOUR IGNORANCE.
i find that comment he made a bit racist… some people are racist, some people arnt…. but you shouldnt blame such a big group of people. its wrong
I’m republican, and white. I feel like he’s being racist by saying that. Here’s a way to tell if you’re racist…. if you walk into a room full of people that look the opposite of you and you think to yourself, “i’m the only white/black/Hispanic/etc.. in this room.” Then that probably means part of you feels uncomfortable with people of different races, making you willing or unwillingly racist. Whether I support President Obamas beliefs or decisions, has absolutely NOTHING to do with him being black. I think the fact that he’s the first black president in office has brought a lot of healing to our nation and i’m glad we’ve finally broken that chain. The part that bothers me is that the race card is brought into everything involving him, and he can’t just be president. When he was elected, people I knew at the time who knew nothing about politics voted him in soles because he was black. I respect him because he’s my President, but I don’t agree with most things he stands for. In a way I wish all men/women running for president could be shielded until elected that way we’d know who was truly elected because of what they stand for rather than because of what they look like. Republicans may not like Obama, but that’s because he’s a democrat. Have a black republican run for president, and i’m sure things will be different. 8 don’t care anyways… i’m voting for Ron Paul 2012… whether he’s black OR white
i think this is a steriotype. people say that republicans hate black people, when sometimes i think that it is that black people hate republicans. im not saying that this is a wrong statement, but i think that the racism goes both ways.
I really find this offensive. I am a republican and I have more black friends than white friends. look, i know it is the steriotype that republicans dont like black people, but look at the steriotype from the OTHER side. it is just like saying all democrats hate white men from texas and texas people are cruel. when really, it is not the case. shut up lil wayne! you have no idea what you are saying. YOU are the one being a racist!
I like how you brought that up about Texas, I live in Houston
i agree. republicans will never accept blacks
and how many republicans do you know? have you asked anyone?
Julie… However, have you ever gotten a job from a poor person?
…And Herman Cain is what?
I feel that way too, I think the republicans need to get wit da 21st century and except and love the diversity in the world.
I don’t think most Republicans are racist but I think most racists are Republicans.
I completely agree.
ehhhh i think thats a steriotype
I totally agree.
Well said!
This is probably a biased comment but from my experiences and what I have seen in the media republicans have always been for social hierarchy. Meaning that usually the people on top of the social hierarchy (the rich) or as fox news likes to say “job creators” are republican as they want to keep their status. This of course means oppressing anyone else in the economic food chain. Reaganomics for example has a “trickle down effect” where most of the money starts at the food chain and as they spend money it will eventually reach everyone. What really ends up happening is the rich end up keeping all the money and everyone else has bread crumbs. Republicans lower in the social food chain are usually religious to a point of blind faith. This blind faith is also put into their political beliefs and if they hear others wise they throw a huge fit where they kick and scream until the apposing side realizes they are mentally unfit and to emotional to debate.
I really think that he made a good point. I jhave experienced a lot of racism twards vlack peopld it jas always been said by a republican.
thats just a steriotype. how about the other way around? what if someone said that all black people hate republicans or that all black people hate texans, which is the steriotype for a “normal” republican. it is most likely coincidence that they are republicans. i think it is a more fair statement to say that black people will never be or like republicans
He did make a good point
Well he didn’t say it very well but he has a point. Racism isn’t just “I hate black people” – racism can even be just not checking your privilege. Everybody has had a racist thought – are you seriously going to tell me that you’ve never made a negative judgment call on somebody based on their race, even subconsciously? It’s unavoidable. It is social conditioning. Now, take the Republican stance on most issues, and you find that many of the things they stand for directly hurt black Americans. Is it purposeful? Maybe for some, and not for others… but they certainly aren’t doing anything to check their white privilege at the door and help non-whites reach their privileged level now are they?
I agree Rem.
