If you’ve been on Twitter or Facebook in the last couple of minutes, you already know that talented singer Amy Winehouse has passed away. But whether this is or isn’t the first time you’re hearing of it, the story brings up a lot of sad emotions.
It’s always awesome to watch a gURL rise to the top of the music industry, especially someone like Amy with great talent and individuality. It’s obvious she had problems with drugs and alcohol, and even though there hasn’t been any official cause of death released, lots of people are assuming Amy’s vices played a part.
But maybe what’s been even more disturbing is the amount of people who we’ve seen with messages on their Twitter feeds or Facebook walls sarcastically saying, “Well, couldn’t have seen this one coming…” or “Is anyone really that surprised?”.
Have you seen these posts too? What does it make you think? And have you ever lost someone close to you? How did you deal? Share your love for Amy or sound off in the comments below.

It makes me sick to my stomach how lppeoe are treating her death. All the sarcastic comments and the rude remarks are so disgusting. I’ve heard ppl say well i guess she shldve went to rehab after all. What she did in her life was her business and whoever she decided to share it with. You just don’t talk about lppeoe like that, especially when she JUST died! its one of the things that make me hate ppl. I done28099t care what anybody had to say about her. She had a wonderful voice and she made beautiful music. Thats what Ie28099ll remember her for.
R.I.P. Amy, you were such a talented individual<3
Really sad I’ve always seen her voice as smnethiog different out of all the music made nowadays;like it was a mixture of smnethiog sweet then hit with salt to make you be like Woah. She really was a talented chick in my eyes, drug/alcohol problems aside (she’s human, famous or not;don’t act like you don’t know someone with that problem;not defending, foreal:just saying.)And to those being sarcastic: They just want two minute laughs from strangers to make them feel like someone gives a hoot about someone else’s opinion they repeated;I mean, yeah.freedom of speech, but I didn’t know freedom to be a complete spineless tick was apart of that, too. I mean, gosh, she DIED, she was HUMAN;I’m sorry to say this, but I’d hate for someone they loved or liked were to have smnethiog happen to them and for them to be in the shoes hearing things like well,he did keep smoking or well,he was stubborn or well, look at him! it was bound to happen! ; grow up and get some heart because you’ll meet people in life that will really look down upon you with that grade kid humor . But may she truly R.I.P, she was so young.
that is very sad though i had no idea who see was until today i found out on first news
it is horrible.
uh oh, i thought u’d moderate my comment b4 putting it up obviously not, oops.
amy winehouse was an amazing singer and person, addicitions or no addictions, it’s not really fair to her family and friends for people to be discussing amy like this when she has just passed, give them some privacy and peace to grieve in their own time instead of picking out her faults, remember everyone has there demons (faults).
however I also feel that amys death should not being given so much media attention on the news and in papers; there are much bigger things going on in the world which are barley ever publicised becuase unfortunately more ‘interesting’ stories which bring more money in for the papers and are in the ‘public interest’, so seemingly war and famine in some of the poorest countries is dropped off the news in papers and tv for a few days and resigned to the internet, so that a celebrity hype can fill the space, she seemed like a nice person however
the news should not be filled up with things like this, of course we feel your pain, not to be harsh but people die every day, there is a time and a place for talking about celebrities deaths, and the national, regional news is NOT the place.
the real purpose of news is not to be interesting and captivating, it is to inform about real issues and things that are happening in the world right now I.e. famine, war, a new prime minister, change for the better or for the worse, political unrest, not for example the latest fashion in jeans.
I do like your website, it is just annoying when so much news space is given to ‘supposed’ important people, and real issues are just mothballed for another day, i know i’m not the only one who feels this way.
obviously this is not really suitable for light hearted nature of gurl.com ; so……….. rant over.
RIP amy winehouse.
RIP Amy, I feel bad for her, all of the nasty things people are saying, gosh. Have some sympathy!

No i haven’t seen these posts, but I’ve heard people say some things. I think that even though she didn’t make that many wise decisions, I still think that people still need to show her some respect. I mean what did she do to anyone else? She had an ADDICTION, so it’s obviously not going to be that easy to stop. I did not lose anyone close to me.
Amy was so young, R.I.P.
I think it is a shame Amy died. While I am assuming it was due to drugs, that does not make it any less meaningful. It is sad that she struggled with drugs and could not beat the addiction. Just because it was (possibly) from drugs – and maybe not the most surprising cause of death – it does not make the death of Amy any less serious. Amy was a talented young woman, and it is sad that she struggles with all these demons.
Yes, recently this year I have lost one of my childhood friends was like a brother to me. Him and I grew up together from first grade and we were always close. It never really hit me that he was gone until I saw him in the casket and even after it didnt really hit me. I loved him and he ment so much to me . The advice he gave me was amazing. No one could ever replace not even if they tried. He was my bestfriend and my brother and no one could ever understand our relationship and how much he ment to me .
R.I.P. Amy.
Really sad

This makes me very sad. Even though she wasn’t the best influence and had some bad stuff going on, she doesn’t deserve all the hurtful things being said. No one does. Think about it…she’s DEAD. That is not something to joke about and everyone who has should be ashamed of themselves.
