Applying To College

The ACT has four sections: reading, math, science and English. There is an optional writing section, which if you choose to take, brings the test to about 4.5 hours. A perfect ACT score is a 36. The ACT only charges you to take the test, which is less than $40. The ACT is not as widely-known as the SAT, and some people think it is harder. However, while the SAT is big on the coasts, the ACT is the Midwestern test, since schools in Colorado, Illinois, Michigan and Kentucky all require their students to take the ACT, whether they’re college bound or not.
