There’s a great deal of controversy regarding selling EC over-the-counter. Numerous pro-life lobbyists and Catholic protesters feel it promotes sex and abortion. The fear is that easy access to EC would increase unsafe sex.

Pharmacies are required by law to distribute EC. However, an individual pharmacist can refuse to sell it–as long as someone else on site will provide the medication.
