Hey Heather,
I don’t know what to do! I am 14 years old and I haven’t gotten my period. I do have discharge every day, but not a lot. I’m also going to be turning 15 in November. My best friend started her period already, even my cousin who’s only 11 started her period at 10. So I don’t know what to do. Should I wear pads in case it happens in public? Will it show through my pants the first time? It’s summer time and I wear shorts, so any suggestions? Can you estimate when I will be having my period?
Every gURL gets her period at a different age, so just because you haven’t yet doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you. Puberty can begin in gURLs, and menstruation can start any time from the ages of 8 to 15, give or take. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you when you’ll get your period, but it will probably happen within the next few months or years.
Every gURL’s first period is different. Sometimes it can show through your pants, but it doesn’t always. Feel free to wear shorts as much as you want. The first time is usually only a small amount of blood, so as long as you put on a pad right away, you’ll be okay. You should be prepared when the time comes, but there’s no need to wear pads if you haven’t gotten it yet. Like I told this gURL, carry around a small bag with one pad inside so that you’ll always have it if you need it.
As for the vaginal discharge, it’s your vagina’s way of self-cleaning and getting rid of bacteria down there. Harmless discharge is usually a small amount of transparent liquid that is odorless, but it can vary for everyone. As long as you aren’t experiencing itching, discomfort or any kind of pain, you don’t need to worry about it.
Don’t stress about it too much — you’ll get your period eventually! And if you’re really worried, you can always talk to your mom, a school nurse or your doctor.

Can You Trust Him?
No I haven’t started, but I have had more discharge. Also as of today, I have this pain one one side near my hip. I think it might be cramps. :y
YeaI’m 13 and I haven’t started and I want it but I’m kinda scared I guess it’s just not my time yet
i just got mine and im 12 and its really not that bad…the cramps feel like gas bubbles and the only thing is that you feel like u have to pee all the time…and you feel like you need to cahnge your pad a lot…other than that its really not bad at all.( I cried but only because i was scared, now that i have it its not that bad)
Seriously I’m nearly 15 and still don’t have it – I have had everything else for years including spotting but nothing yet.
I want mine so bad!!!!!!!it’s not even funny!!!Irish there was a way to speed things up…….:(any suggestions?
For any of you who want their period or want to know when you’ll get it like me, here’s what I did. I asked my mom to take me to get a urine test. If your close to getting your period there is a small amount of blood in ur pee. The test results came back and there is blood in my urine. It will come very soon.
I haven’t had my period yet either. I am 14 and my birthday is in November! I’m going into highschool next year and all my friends have gotten theirs. I get worried about when mine will come too but eventually it will.
I’m a 11 and I have already started (2 months ago).When people say you don’t want it.How do they know?Some people react differently to their first period.I cried.Lots of people who have not started think…what a drama queen!Urrrggg.But seriosly its a very emotional thing for some girls.Personnaly I have not had that feeling”I really want my period now’.So I can’t really help there.But I had the first ever stomach cramp 5 days before I started.But it does’nt nesacerily mean you will-every girl is different.Just be patient!
i got mine 21 days ago.. i swear u wudnt lyk 8 when u have it!! ugh. its like yeah i eat evrything in sight but no worries i dont get fat at all!!

I think I might be starting my period soon. I often have signs such as discharge ( whitish stuff), lower back cramps and stomach cramps. I feel dizzy and tired all the time. I want to start real soon too. Can anybody give me feedback? Thanks=).
P.s please don’t tell me that I don’t want to start.
It is hard to tell when you’ll start but all I can say is that I had all of your symptons for the first and started my period 5 days after.
I’m 13 almost 14 and I don’t have it yet either!! I bet it is coming soon though….
@dramaprincess444: you have started your period! and also put on a pad right away or lie on youur back or squat and insert a menstrul cup or tampon
How do i know when my period is around the corner??
Discharge stars to become heavier and sometimes even becomes like a thick brown sort of substance and nt as light and even when u go to the bathroom when u wipe ur self u’ll see a ind of pinkish color.
I havent started my period yet and im 12 and there is like some black / brown stuff coming out of my vaginaa what does this mean? I looked it up on ask.com and it said i am starting my period. Did that happen to any of you when you started?

I hear that from a lot of people. But I think it’s a beautiful thing that God has given women. He gave us the gift that we may have children a start a family one day! I haven’t started my period yet but I really want to. Besides, look on the bright side, you don’t have it every single day of your life.:)
