Marriage is a social union and/or contract that unifies two people. Every culture and society defines the semantics of marriage differently, but we’re going to concentrate on what’s typical in this neck of the woods. Traditionally, marriage was a way of offering legitimacy to a couple’s offspring; it ensured that the man would provide for the woman and their children, while the woman and their offspring became his property.
