first period: my younger sister got it before I did!

there's a first time for everything. period.

Waiting is the hardest part, right? So what if you’re a late bloomer? It can be excruciating to wait, especially when the last thing you expect happens:

I was so excited when I FINALLY got my period. I didn’t get it until I was 14 years, 7 months and 22 days old. So I was the last person of my friends to get it. My mom told me that if I didn’t get it by the time I was 15, I’d have to go to the gyno. So while I was freaking out as my 15th birthday came near, I got the worst news ever!

My younger sister got it before I did! She got hers when she was 12 and three months; a full three months before I did! What kind of dirty trick was God playing on me? I felt like the most desperate Margaret in the world (Except, I have grown a nice B-cup).  My sister didn’t rub it in or anything, but my mom was so excited! She had pads and tampons that were supposed to be for me on hand in her bathroom. Seeing those tampons, pads and panty liners under the sink every day for the three months leading up to my final moment was awful. I wondered what was wrong with me and if I was ever going to have kids…I was jealous when my sister ruined her first pair of underwear. I couldn’t believe how grown up she seemed in front of her friends. I know now I was just looking for signs of growing up — she didn’t really act any differently. I just reallllly wanted to believe that getting it meant that I could grow up.

When I got it, I actually kept the secret for about three hours. I wanted to see if anyone would be able to tell. But the first thing my mom said when she saw me that Saturday afternoon was to set the table for dinner. I told her, and my whole family, over dessert.  After all, it was a sweet, expected, surprise.

Whatever happens – happens. No point in worrying.

So I’m 16 and my younger sister is 14 and she got her period when she was 13 and I still don’t have mine. I am quite short so everyone thinks she’s the older one and it is so unfair! My mum was going to take me away when I got mine (cause I wanted to go to this school trip to Europe so she said she just take me down the coast for a weekend when I got my period) but no my sister go hers first and my mum took her away and now if I get mine this year or next we can’t afford to go away and I have never left the state so I was so excited. It’s so unfair.

I know how you feel! I am 15 and I haven’t had mind yet, I went to the doctor after my birthday, and said I was fine, and close. My mom got me some pads and everything, I ended up using them all for a false alarm. A month later my 13 year old sister got it. I felt like I was sterile, and everything. It’s nice to kno I’m not the only one

Same thing happened to me, but I got mine awhile ago.

Hey! I totally know how you feel. I am almost 16 and don’t have my period yet! My little 12 year old sister just got hers this morning! Mum isnt home, so here I am cleaning up blood, helping her with pads and cleaning the undies she was wearing, which are actually MINE, (they were my favourites!). I am gonna go to the gyno soon, i am so scared, but i know i better go. I feel like a baby, like she is the older one now, thats not how its meant to be. I feel like crying! All my friends have theirs, my sister has it, i am surrounded by pad and tampons and I just don’t fit in! I can share you pain so well!
