We're cool
Henry here. I’ve been looking through a lot of your questions and have tons of advice for you, so make sure to check out my posts over the next couple days. And don’t forget to leave your q’s for me in the comments!
Today, Mandy asks: “How much does religion matter to guys when it comes to high school relationships? The guy I like is of the same general religion as me but a different denomination.”
The short answer here is: It doesn’t really matter. But there is a longer, more complicated answer (read on!).
Take into account male stereotypes for a moment. Guys like girls who are __________, __________, and __________. You probably just filled those blanks in with “pretty”, “have big boobs”, and “willing to put out.” And you know what, you’d be right, especially about high school guys. High school is a guy’s sexual peek, and we want to feel like we’re getting the most out of it!
I’m not saying you should constantly doll yourself up, get a boob job, and get frisky with every guy you meet. On the contrary, you should just be you and wait for the guy who appreciates you and loves you for that. But it might take a while for that guy to come along. (And when he does, you’ll know right away, because he’ll be following you around like a puppy dog.)
However, that’s not to say that all guys are like that. Not all of us are just looking to hook up, and most if not all want to date a girl who has similar interests, beliefs and values. But, to be honest, those things matter more in the long run than they do in high school.
So, being part of different religions or denominations is not a dealbreaker for most guys. There are a few exceptions to that. As you may have already heard, certain religions like to date within their faith, but it’s more on a case-by-case basis (And that’s where phrases like “shiksa goddess” come into play.).
So, give it a try. And if doesn’t work out? Odds are it’s probably because you didn’t have chemistry or weren’t compatible. Religion is really just a small piece of the puzzle.

Dear Henry,
I’m in ninth grade, and so is the guy I’m interested in. Thing is, I’ve known him since first grade. He’s hangs out with me during the classes we have together, and lunch too, but how can I tell if it’s because we’re just friends and I’m permanently friend-zoned, or if it’s because he’s interested in me too. Any tips on how I can tell?
Jesus is important 2 me n i want my bf r future husband 2 love Him 2! if he doesn’t then i don’t want him!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Henry , I’m musulman and I have crush on a guy in my school and I’m scared to tell him I am unable to tell him I love him for fear that I refuse to cose of my religion! thank you for giving me an answer
Dear Henry, there is a boy in my class that has a HUGE crush on me. However, ihe totaly not my type. Ive tried to drop many hints that im not into him, for example rejecting him when he tries to kiss me, hes just not getting it though! i dont like hurting people feelings or breaking hearts. What are some ways to get the message across without having to be mean or awkward?
Dear Henry,
How do you know when a guy is really into you, not just flirting around with a lot of girls?
Dear Henry,
I've known this guy for 11 years (we're 14) we tried going out twice (a year ago and a month ago) and realized it wasn't working because he hides his personality around the girls he dates. He knows this, I know it, so why isn't this working out now? We both still like each other.
thanks,
eliza
Hi Henry,
Whenever I like a guy that likes me, he stops liking me. Why? Is it something I do?
Dear Henry,
I'm wondering, and I can't remember if this has been done, does a girls height/weight matter to guys?
And, how does a girl know when a guy likes her?
Hi Henry,
I am 14 years old and I have only once ever come even close to getting a date in third grade. Why might no guys be interested in me? Also, there's a guy in my art class who sometimes goes to art class with me, and we talk frequently. I kind of like him, and he sometimes stands by my locker when I'm switching books out and waits for me. Do you think he might like me back?
This has nothing to do with the above ^ But how do I post a question to heather? thanks
Dear Henry,
I wanted to know if a guy has sex with a girl, will he go out with her after or will he not take her seriously because he already got " what he wanted" from her.
