i got cut while fooling around

dear heather,
So me and my boyfriend haven’t had sex yet. We’ve pretty much done everything else, though. We were fooling around and he was sort of in me. Not fully, but not just hanging there either. Well I’m not sure, but I think he may have torn something. I’ve been bleeding just a little, nothing like a period whatsoever, but enough to leave something in my underwear. I don’t know if it’s because of him or an early period? I’m not supposed to get it for a few weeks. I guess my question is, do you think that my boyfriend tore something and if so, what should I do?
You probably have a small cut that is causing you to bleed a tiny bit. It’s most likely nothing to worry about. If the blood is pink or bright red, it’s probably coming from a cut inside your vagina. Your bigger concern should be fooling around without protection and confusing whether your boyfriend entering your vagina fully or not fully is a big deal. It is! No matter if he’s in there for one second or for minutes at a time, he should be wearing a condom.

If you are experiencing bleeding over the course of a few days, that probably means you have a deep cut. If you just see a drop or so of blood when you are peeing for a day or so, it’s just a tiny cut that will heal on its own. If you are bleeding a lot and for an extended period of time, it is probably a larger wound and you may need to go to the doctor to possibly get it stitched up or get a cream that will keep the cut clean. If you aren’t sure whether you need to go to the doctor, call the office and ask to speak to a nurse. They are no strangers to these kind of questions! They will tell you to keep the area clean for few days while the cut heals (meaning no sex or fooling around).

Cuts during sex or fingering are common, so don’t panic!

take care,
heather
